Chinchillas are independent, curious creatures that can make great pets. Before you get a new pet chinchilla, it’s important to have the necessary supplies. A chinchilla cage setup is easy to put together and Petco has everything you need. A cheap chinchilla cage will go a long way—you don’t have to spend a lot for a comfortable and safe habitat. If you only have a single pet, you just need to make sure that your chinchilla has a cage that is at least 3-feet tall and 2-feet wide and deep.
Some chinchilla cages are multi-level, but single chinchillas don’t require a tall cage. Your pet will need room to move around. If you have one adult chinchilla, make sure the cage is at least 3-feet tall and 2-feet wide. Petco has a variety of small animal beds, sleepers and hideaways that work for chinchillas. Many multi-level cages have the advantage of a shelf under the habitat. This is a great place to store food, extra bowls, litter and other supplies that you use frequently.
Yes. Chinchillas enjoy some freedom, but when they are wandering in your home, they will require supervision. Most of a chinchilla’s time should be spent in an enclosure. They are small and agile and are safer when in an enclosed habitat. The best chinchilla cage is one that has plenty of space for them to move around and play with their toys. The more chinchillas you have, the more space a cage should have. When you have multiple chinchillas a multi-level cage is often appropriate.
Generally speaking, chinchillas are relatively low maintenance pets. They do require small animal cleanup and odor control supplies and new litter regularly. Other than that, your small rodent can entertain themselves with toys and exercise accessories. The only thing left to do is make sure your pet has new food and water daily. The best chinchilla cage accessories include wheels, chew toys and blocks.
It’s easier to move your chinchilla cage around if it has wheels on the bottom. Many multi-level chinchilla habitats will have wheels to make them more mobile. While your pet doesn’t need this type of cage, you might find it more convenient. Especially for tall chinchilla habitats, having wheels means you can move the cage around the room or in and out of certain areas of your home with ease.

i would like to know if i should get a chinchilla
What kind of habitat should my gerbils live in a cage or tank this is my first time having gerbils?
Im thinking about getting a Chinchilla but I have a pretty large family (5 kids, me and my husband). The youngest is about a year old, and the oldest is 12 years old. Would it be ok to let the Chinchilla around all my kids? Also, how do you potty train a Chinchilla?
This isnt exactly about my pet being sick but can a rat and a chinchilla live together/play together?
I got a 7 week old Chinchilla yesterday. How do I get him to adapt quicker and create a strong bond with me? Also, whenever I pet his head he tries to bite me, not out of frustration, but bc he thinks I'm food. Any tips on how to get him to stop biting me?
So I recently posted a pic of my hamsters new set up. People said that CritterTrail is too small for her. She has two cages and then tubes connecting them. She runs in her ball for 4 hrs a day with a break each hour for water and food. Should I make her a bin cage or keep the CritterTrails cage?
Hi! Is it a MUST to have 2 chinchillas? I have tons of time on my hands (which is most of the reason I'm getting another pet) and I would be able to spend TONS of time with it, (only as much as it wanted)
My roommate recently adopted a 5 month old puppy that had parvo when it was younger. The shelter said it tested negative for the virus, but to keep an eye out just in case. I'm getting a chinchilla soon and I am wondering if they are susceptible to being infected?
i give my chinchilla a bath outside of his cage and when i put him back in his cage he goes to the same corner and sticks his nose through the bars while squeaking and sneezing, sometimes biting the bars of his cage, this only lasts for like 5 minutes after his bath and then he’s fine. or if i come up to his cage and pat him he comes right over to me as if nothings wrong. maybe the dust is irritating him?
I am setting up a new habitat for my 2 sibling gerbils. I want it to be as natural of a habitat as their ancestors in the wild live in. Which substrate would you recommend that would be as natural as they would receive in their desert environment?
What is the best bedding for my rabbit
I have a chinchilla, and she is potty trained, but every so often she'll pee outside of her bedding which makes some of the pee sort of stick to her bum. I know that chinchillas getting wet is bad for their health because of how thick their coat is, so I usually clean it with a baby wipe and dry it with a towel, but I feel like it doesn't get all the pee out. What else can I do?Is it okay if her bum gets a bit wet since the fur there isn't as thick? If it gets matted should I take her to the vet?
