Finches and canaries are great companion animals to watch—they are not fond of being handled. These birds do best in flight cages where you can observe, listen and care for them. Provide a large environment full of toys and various perches to allow them to fly and have ample space to thrive.
Finches and canaries prefer to sleep in the dark. If there are any outside noises or light in your house at night, then it is ideal to cover their habitat at sundown and uncover it at sunrise to mimic their natural environment, and protect them from drafts.

I have two happy male society finches in a cage approx 3 feet long and 14" wide, 24.5 inches high. Can I add a 3rd male. There's one that has been in the pet store for months. Awful. Tiny cage.
Hello! I have a very big Cage with just three budgies. I'd like to but an zebra finch, but i want to know If I can put just one zebra finch with my three budgies (2 females, 1 Male). Do the zebra finch needs a pair? Can i put these two species together? Thanks!
My Canary, Ringo, has a Cage that has a peaked roof, like a house. I have a chance to get a Flat-topped roof, larger cage. Which type of cage do Canaries like? I prefer the house-style cage, as it is more attractive. But, I realize Canaries don't know about their cage being attractive. Ringo would be able to fly more in the larger cage. Is the Peaked Roof just a Personal, Human Preference? And, Not the Canaries?
Are all males canary feed their females when incubating ?
I am looking for the best pellets for my canaries. Last year they were on a seed diet, but I slowly switched them over to Zumpreem Fruit Blend. However, I've read that the Fruit Blend has a lot of artificial coloring and sugars. I'm having trouble finding information for what the best pellets are. Please help!
My one yr. old Canary, Ringo, Chirps only. I bought Hagen Song Seed to promote singing. Does that really work?

Dear Pet Coach, i took home a Yellow Fronted Canary 3 weeks ago. It is very skittish and flutters around when i approach it’s cage. It will stop singing the moment it see’s me. Recently i tried spending more time in the same room with it but at a distance. I noticed it will start preening itself when i’m in the room and sing when i leave. How can i tell if it’s moulting or feather plucking from stress? Appreciate your help please. Thank you.
I have just purchased a canary today and since I have had the canary it has been puffed up or all of its feathers ruffled up. The tail feathers seem to be untamed completely. I have not heard it sing or chirp. The bird is eating and drinking however I am worried the bird is sick upon research I have conducted. I am new to this and I am not sure what to do. Please help
