Caring for a dog in discomfort is a challenge every pet parent wishes to overcome swiftly. Petco, committed to your pet's well-being, offers a trusted range of prescription dog medications designed to alleviate pain, inflammation, and symptoms of arthritis. As the leading name in pet care, we provide a variety of medications, including popular choices of NSAIDS (Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) like Metacam, Previcox, Gabapentin, and Prednisone, ensuring that your pet receives the best care tailored to their needs.
Ordering pain relief for dogs from Petco is simple. Just add the item to your cart, fill in your pet and veterinarian’s information, and our team will handle getting the prescription.
The amount of pain medicine you give your canine will depend on the product and their condition. Your pet’s veterinarian may decide to start them out on a higher dosage that is reduced over time. For this reason, follow their dosing recommendations and pay attention to special instructions like administering medication with food, vitamins, or supplements.
Pet-specific NSAIDs are a great way to help relieve your dog's arthritic pain. Always discuss your pup’s pain with your veterinarian before giving them any type of medication.
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) can bring relief to your pup by reducing painful joint inflammation, helping with mobility, stiffness, reluctance to switch positions from standing to lying down, and more. NSAIDs have the same effect on dogs as they do on humans, but never give your pet human medications without veterinarian approval. Human NSAIDs can be harmful to pets when administered improperly. It’s important to contact your veterinarian so they can prescribe your dog with NSAIDs made specifically for their pain and inflammation.

What can I give my dog for pain relief ?
How can I help my dog with his arthritis
Hello, my dog won’t sit/lay down for longer than 2 minutes. Recently was diagnosed with Arthritis (2 months ago) but was told it wasn’t severe enough yet to require surgery/meds. He’s been acting weird the last couple of hours, its Easter Sunday so vets are closed so is there any medicine we can buy at the store to ease his pain so he can sleep until we can see our vet tomorrow. Thanks
15 year old Bichon who weighs 15 lbs and has no chronic systemic illnesses but does have arthritis and noticeable stiffness. What pain medication can I give her daily?
My dog has pain from her arthritis and she played a lot today and can barely move is there anything we can do/ give to her for her pain
What can you give dogs for pain?
I think my dog is in pain. What should I give him?
My dog, Tasha, has been diagnosed with Osteo-arthritis, in her left rear hip/top of leg. She is presently on pain and anti-inflammatory pills. (Apo-Tramadol - 100 mg. 2X/day.). I don't know if you are familiar with the medications I am mentioning,as I live in Southern Ontario, Canada. I was told by your Coaches that the Inflammation hurts her more. If no better, in 5 days, the Vet wants to put her on Metacam pills. If the Vet will use Anti-inflammatory pills only, will that get rid of the pain?
I have a 10 yr old 100 lb yellow Labrador retriever. He has significant arthritis in his rear knees and is having a difficult time getting up from laying down, going up/down stairs from porch, slow to sit. He has been seeing a veterinarian regularly and has been in rimadyl once a day for 6 months and 2x/day for last 3 months. It does not seem to be helping. I cannot seem to get a straight answer for what to try next. Given my dogs situation I just want name of one medication to try next.
What can I give my dog for arthritis as sometimes he is in pain and is not as active thanks he is a jack Russell and is 12 years old
Further to my question re: Tasha and limping on left leg. I forgot to say that the Vet wants me to put Tasha on Pain and Inflammation pain pills, both. I can only afford one of these two pills. Is there any over the counter pills hat would help her with her pain from Arthritis? What causes the pain - the Arthritis or the bone growing in the wrong place, with the pills? With the Arthritis growing on the end of the Hip Leg pain?
