Ideally, kittens should have four feedings of wet food per day. And at least two feedings of wet food per day if they're also eating dry food. It may be hard for kittens to chew dry food until their teeth get bigger, so eating wet food ensures they're getting the nutrients they need.

Kittens can begin to feed on high-quality dry food when they're around 5-6 weeks old. Just make sure it's kitten food and not adult cat food.

Kittens should transition to adult cat food when they're around one year old. Begin the transition process by feeding them a ratio of 75% kitten food and introduce 25% cat food. After a few days, switch it to 50% and 50%, then 25% kitten food and 75% cat food. Then finally after a week of easing them into it, you can feed them 100% cat food.
