Don't forget the odds and ends needed for your pet reptile! Habitat security is important to keep your pet safe and all reptile habitats should have secure locking mechanisms on the doors. If you are using an aquarium with a screen top, be sure to add screen clips to help prevent your reptile from pushing open the top and escaping.

Extra accessories for feeding may also be important, especially for snakes. Having a snake hook can be beneficial to the snake to reduce stress and to you to help prevent bites from your snake being startled. Tongs may be useful to hand feed lizards or to move frozen/thawed rodents and simulate moving to attract your snake when feeding.

Nail care for your lizard shouldn't be forgotten, and some species may need supplemental nail trims to help reduce the chance of your pet getting a long nail stuck in the habitat and to help protect your skin from sharp nails.

Larger, more social lizards like iguanas and bearded dragons may even learn to enjoy outings with their pet parents and a lizard leash will help prevent them from wandering too far!
