When your cat gets an infection, it’s likely their treatment will include prescription antibiotics. The type of medication will depend on the type of illness and the overall health of your pet. Antibiotics are effective against bacterial infections, but not viral ones. Because there are so many different causes of an infection, it’s best to consult your pet’s veterinarian for a proper diagnosis. They will prescribe the right prescription antibiotics for cats and give you specific dosage instructions.

At Petco, you can order antibiotics for your pet online. Add the item to your cart, fill in your cat and veterinarian’s information, and we will handle getting the prescription.
Symptoms of an infection in your cat can differ based on cause and location of the infection. Some symptoms can be sneezing, cough, fever, depression, decrease in appetite, hiding, and neglecting grooming.
Antibiotics for pets require a prescription from your veterinarian.
Your veterinarian will put careful consideration into your cat’s antibiotic schedule. Serious complications may arise if you stop short of the veterinarian-recommended course of antibiotics.
It is not common for antibiotics to make cats sleepy. However, it is possible that some cats may experience side effects from antibiotics, which may include lethargy, weakness, or loss of appetite. These side effects are typically mild and temporary and should improve as the cat's body adjusts to the medication.
If your cat is experiencing unusual sleepiness or other concerning symptoms while taking antibiotics, it is important to contact your veterinarian for advice. Your veterinarian may recommend adjusting the dosage or switching to a different medication to minimize side effects and ensure that your cat receives effective treatment for their condition.

Is there an antibiotic I can give a feral cat? He has been neutered and eats outside and seems to have some kind of respiratory problem. I can't get him to a vet.
Cat urinary track infection
Can I give my 10 week old kitten human amoxicillin for uri
My cat is an antibiotic and it’s starting to get diarrhea. I have her on Fortefora Would adding benefiber help?
Hello, my cat is very, very sick now. The vet couldn't be sure if it's a tumour or an abscess at the base of his skull. He gave a general long lasting antibiotic injection 3 nights ago , but no change. I need to know if my cat can take daily oral antibiotics alongside the injection. He's very sick now and in pain, I'd like to give him a last chance of antibiotics before I have to have him put down. Thank you
I have several cats, but only one of them has been peeing often on my bed lately. She is 3 years old, and she poops in the litter box, but pees on my bed. She weights around 10 pounds, and seems to be healthy, and she doesn't seem to be in any noticeable pain. I was told by the animal feed store, that she could have an urinary tract infection and to give her 250 mg of Amoxicillin once in her mornings wet cat food, and one 250 mg again at night. Is this correct? Susan Schreffler
What antibiotics are prescribed for cold of kittens and also what are the treatment for eye redness of kittens ? Please be specific. Thank you.
So my cat has 2 abscesses thats what vet said then gave her a shot then sent us home with biomax it says for dogs only?
Is peroxide and antibiotic ointment allowed to be used on a cat for a small wound
I took my kitten into a vet and was told he was dehydrated and it was critical that this was affecting his kidneys. They took blood. Gave him and IV for fluids sent us home with medicine give Clavamox drops for 10 days twice a day 0.4 ml. Orally. When we give it to my kitten it wiped him out. I’m looking at the box and it reads it for dog and cat skin irritation or pyoderma and or tissue infections. Was this medication prescribed correctly? I’ve currently been giving kitty electrolytes to help.
hi my cat has pyometra. And the vet gave her antibiotics. i started giving her antibiotics since yesterday. and im not sure if there is a discharge because i didnt notice one. is it normal that if my cat took antibiotics, there wont be a discharge? and could an antibiotic heal her? i dont have money for operations.
Our cat has sores under her chin. Despite me cleaning them and using neosporin and enzyme ointment, they aren’t healing. I think it’s feline chin acne and she may need an antibiotic.
