If you suspect your cat has an eye or ear infection, it’s worth scheduling an appointment with their veterinarian. While cat eye infections are common in young felines they can be a sign of a more serious condition in older pets. Typically eye infections are caused by bacteria but they can also result from an autoimmune disease or cancer.
Because cat ear infections are rarer, be on the lookout for symptoms that include a strong odor, discharge from the ear or a loss of balance. By consulting your pet’s veterinarian they can diagnose your feline and prescribe the right cat eye treatment or ear medicine to get them back on track.
How Can I Treat My Cat's Ear Infections?
If your cat has an ear infection there’s a good chance ear mites are to blame. But if your veterinarian rules out these critters, other concerns such as allergies, a mass, or something stuck in your feline’s ear can be the root cause. Since cat ear infections are usually a secondary condition, so it’s important to identify the primary condition carefully.
How are Eye Infections & Glaucoma Treated in Cats?
It hurts to see your feline’s eyes red or inflamed. If the cause of their irritation is from a contagious eye infection, then you'll find eye drops for cats that are formulated to help reduce itching or dryness. For more serious ailments, ask your vet about eye medicine that helps cats combat KCS or glaucoma symptoms. Learn more about the prescription cat eye care at Petco and what each medication treats:
Dorzolamide: An eye drop solution that treats glaucoma in dogs and cats. These eye drops for cats work by reducing fluid within the eye to decrease pressure in the eyeball.
Vetropolycin: A combination antibiotic containing neomycin, polymyxin B, and bacitracin. It prevents cat eye infections by killing bacteria in and around the eye. Vetropolycin comes as an easy-to-apply ointment for dogs and cats.

My kitten is having a hard time opening her eye. She has some discharge from it and is squinting. Are there eyedrops or anything I can do to help relieve the irritation?
Took our cat to the vet since her third eyelid was covering half her eye since last one week even when she is active. Her appetite has decreased slightly but she is active otherwise. The vet has prescribed eye drops TOBA DM to be put thrice a day. Is it the right medicine? Is it a life threatening disease? will it affect her vision? How long will it take for her to recover fully? Please advice.
Is eyemist forte drops used for cats ?? Please telll its a request
My cat has an itchy eye. Will human eye drops work for him ?
My cats ear is red inside and he’s constantly shaking his head. It looks like there’s possibility drainage Must he be seen by a vet or are there over counter ear drops?
My cats eye is swollen shut and has discharge leaking from it. It looks like it may have been scratched by something. I don’t have the ability to get him to veterinary care right now but I have antibiotic eye drops for human eyes , ciprofloxacin , and prednisolone AC 1% eye drops. Would it be safe for me to use either of them on his eye or should I just leave him to himself. He doesn’t seem to be in pain but he is being lethergic
Hi there! I have to give my kitty ear drops for an ear yeast infection . I wrap her up and massage below her ear after putting them in but she shakes her head and it comes out. Any suggestions on how to do this better ,? :) thank you
Our cat has recently gotten an eye infection. She is the only one of our three cats that has this. She has had it in her left eye for about two weeks. We have tried the Vetericyn plus eye drops for cats which previously worked on one of our other cats, but hasn’t help at all this time. She is 15 years old and I was wondering if you had any idea of what this might be and or any advice. Thank you
I was prescribed a medication for my cat for bacteria in her ears and she jerked and I squirt way too much ointment into her ear canal. How badly will this damage her? She's a 17 yr old 6.6 lb kitty
Hello! please help me. My cat has has a right eye problem. After showing him to an ophthalmologist, the doctor said that it is iridochorioiditis and she prescribed the following eye drops: Maxitrol, Diclofenac, Solcorine - three times each a day. After the first day of using these medication, my cat's eye seemed better. But today the pupil of is eye turned completely black and he cannot open it due to pain. The eye is also swelling. I am very afraid. Please, help me.
My cat recently went to the cat for some ear issues and was given tresaderm to use twice a day for 7 days. She has had 2 doses of the drops and has since stopped scratching at her ear and tilting it to the side. Should I discontinue the drops or continue for the full week?
I took my cat to the vet today to get her ears checked after seeing some brown ear discharge. My vet diagnosed it as a mild to moderate bacterial infection and gave me ear drops mixed with TrizKeto/Baytril/Dexemethasone. Once a day for a week. I forgot to ask her what’s the cause of bacterial infection? So I wanted to ask here. And if there’s any way to prevent it? Will the ear drops she gave treat the infection? My cat is indoor only, but sometimes escapes. She’s also on Revolution.
