Pet reptiles are excellent companions and include a colorful array of species varying in shape, size and care needs.
There are lots of beginner reptile pets with gentle demeanors and minimal care needs. Popular beginner pet lizard types include Leopard Geckos and Bearded Dragons. Pet snakes that are easy to care for include Corn Snakes. Frogs make very good reptile pets, and new pet parents will enjoy the vibrant American Green Tree Frog. Russian Tortoises are wonderfully laidback reptile pets for beginners without the same aquatic needs as turtles.
Whether you’re looking for reptile pets for kids or tame animals to keep you company, there are lots of friendly pet reptile species.
Our cold-blooded creatures have a range of personalities, and there are reptile pets you can hold and even cuddle with. The best reptile pets for handling are generally the friendly ones, and one of the friendliest reptile pets is the Bearded Dragon.
Don’t be fooled by the name—this lizard is gentle, social and awake during the day. Affectionately referred to as “Beardies,” these scaly playmates often love being picked up by their owners.
Tortoises are one of the longest living reptiles on the planet, so they’re resilient and relatively easy to take care of. Low-maintenance tortoises stay small and eat a diet of leafy greens.
Crested Geckos are reptile pets that are easy to take care of, great for children or novice pet parents. Their nocturnal diet consists of specialized crested gecko food three evenings a week.
There are many factors to consider when inviting pet reptiles into your household. The best pet for you will largely depend on what you most value in your new friend. Think about your budget, living space and available time. From small reptile pets with minimal diets to large colorful species with unique habitat requirements, Petco has your reptile needs covered so you can enjoy creating a happy, healthy life with your pet.

What snakes are the easiest to care for as a first-time owner?
Do you treat tortoises
I adopted a sick Leopard Gecko from a local pet store. The pet store doesn't take good care of Leopard Geckos. They have dried Mealworms, no calcium, no humidity, and their all crowed in one hide. My Leopard Gecko Geo wasn't eating Mealworms or Crickets. She is underweight and her tail is skinny. I started to get concerned so I started syringe feeding her daily with ReptaBoost. Today I saw her throw up some of the mix. It looks like she was struggling to regurgitate. Also the humidity is high.
My pet red eared slider Snappy is always sleeping and doesn't eat it's food pellets that I gave him. He runs towards the dry area when I put him in the water and he floats. I have seen some very small worms when I put him in the water.
Is the any thing wrong with her my pet velied chameleon

Pilu she is an Indian roofed turtle. Not taking food for last 3 days & there is no activity. She is sitting in a same position for day long. If I am keeping her in water then she will be there for the whole day and same thing will happen if I shall keep her on basking area. For last two months she is with me and was very active & curious. But now she is totally lethargic for a small movement too. There is no sign of any external diseases. Nose/eyes are ok. Here is no reptiles specialist.Plz help
