Your cockatiel's health is dependent on receiving high-quality cockatiel food which is specially formulated with a balanced blend of nutrients. While these diets may consist of seed, pellet or a mix of the two, there are plenty of different blends for even the pickiest of birds. A balanced diet is essential for good health in any pet bird and specially formulated diets should be supplemented with fruits and vegetables, a variety of treats and millet. Treats should not exceed 10% of your cockatiel’s daily diet which should consist mainly of specialized pellets.
A well-balanced cockatiel diet consists of specialized pellets that should make up to 60-70% of their diet, plus fresh vegetables and fruits and small amounts of fortified seeds. There are also a variety of treats that should make up only 10% of your cockatiel's diet.
Cockatiel feeders and waterers should be secured to the cage and provide fresh food and water at all times. Uneaten fruits and vegetables should be discarded within a few hours. Treats should not exceed 10% of their total diet.
A bird seed only diet may not be balanced with the vitamins and minerals your cockatiel needs, and can be high in fat. Seed only diets are associated with numerous health concerns. Consult your veterinarian about any concerns you have with your bird's nutrition to ensure the healthiest balanced diet is provided.
Treats formulated for a cockatiel and millet are sure to be a feathered fan favorite, but should not make up more than 10% of their total diet. Fresh fruits and vegetables such as bananas, zucchini, bell pepper, mango, peas and corn are a nice addition to their daily diet. Birds should never be fed avocado, fruit seeds, chocolate, caffeine or alcohol as these can cause serious medical conditions. Sugar and high fat treats should also be avoided for the health of your pet. Consult your veterinarian for a complete list of foods your cockatiel can and cannot eat.

What diet should I give to my birds (COCKATIEL) . Pls recommend something other than Pellets as it is not available in my location . I can offer it seed mix, fruits and vegetables and many other food. Pls advice me on what I should feed my cockatiel .
-Cockatiel question- Should I give a cockatiel grit? Can you give me a list of fresh fruit and veggies to put in with the pellets and seeds for a daily diet? How much food should I give a cockatiel? Should I offer insects? Should I give two bowls of water? A small one to drink out of and a bigger one to bathe in? Should I give just tap water? Thanks! (I want to get a cockatiel and just want to know these question. I think I know everything else)
Why is my cockatiel eating her droppings? What should be her regular daily diet?
How do I get my cockatiel to eat other foods other than seeds she is still young and I feel her health could deteriorate. Pls help because I tried everything.
My cockatiel has been eating Leferber’s Premium Daily Diet pellets as a staple diet. She’s also been eating broccoli everyday. I also give her a bit of crushed eggshells once or twice a week. She has a cuttlebone available at all times. I’m wondering if this would be an okay product to give her? She isn’t much of a veggie eater. Will this be beneficial or unnecessary for her? I’m including the details of the product in attached photos. I do feed her some seeds as a treat sometimes. Thank you.
Im getting cockatiels soon. I heard that they can eat eggs(for breakfast)? How often can i feed it to Him/her?how do i cook it? What else can they eat for breakfast and how often? What can i feed to them daily for breakfast?(not including the days i feed them eggs and things like that).

My baby cockatiel is some 4-5 weeks old. Quite recently I've changed the consistency of its formula food. And I'm using Nestlé Baby feeding formula powder called cerelac. It used to eat 2-3 syringes of the runny formula.. Now that I have changed its consistency to creamy and thick..it barely takes some 1 and half. Please assist. It's absolutely fine otherwise
Hi, i have 2 new young cockatiels and we have to travel for around 4 nights and i want to leave them enough food, so i was wondering if it is okay to leave them homemade dried fruits, sunflower seeds and phalaris (canary seeds)? If dried fruits are okay, which fruits should i make for them? thanks in advance.
I have 2 parakeets and I have been feeding them seeds and millet. I believe that what I am currently feeding them is not nutritious. I am currently training them to eat fruit and vegetables and to be hand tamed. I would like to know what food can I buy for them so they can eat nutritious and I can take my time training them.
Hello, I was wondering if it's safe for cockatiels to eat fried peanuts?
My cockatiel seems to be sleeping a lot. She is still a baby (probably around 11 weeks old), and was fed on pellets and millet. I'm not home for 5-8 hours a day, so I don't really see her eat or drink, save for when I've seen her eat millet a few times. She isn't any less social, and prefers to spend her time on my shoulder, even when sleeping, so she hasn't gotten aggressive or fearful.
