It is rare to see a healthy bird lying down or sitting, so providing the right cockatiel perches are vital to your cockatiel's foot health. Your cockatiel will use perches for standing, climbing, playing, rubbing and cleaning beaks, chewing and entertainment.
A variety of perches of differing diameters—approximately ½ inch—and textures is important to help maintain your cockatiel's foot health. The amount of perches will be dependent on the size of your habitat, however they should not inhibit your cockatiel from moving around in its habitat.
In your cockatiel’s habitat, provide a variety of perches that are approximately ½ inch in diameter—including natural branches, ropes and cement perches. Cement perches can help wear down their beak and nails.

What are the best type of perches for my two year old male black capped conure?
What toys are the best for parakeets
Hi! My male budgie is sick and cant balance very well. Should i get platform perches for her?
Cockatiel's wings tucked between the legs. Gets in the way and falls
My cockatiel can't stay stay still on his perch and keeps shuffling around. Is he okay?
I've been doing research before I get my cockatiel and one topic I've seen a lot of controversy on is sanding perches. Both on whether to use one or not and where to use it. If you advised to get one where do you advise me to put it? I saw some people say use it as your feeding perch so that the bird is forced to use that and other people say leave it elsewhere and the bird will use it as they choose?
My male cockatiel is 15 yrs old and has started spending more and more time on the floor of his cage. He occasionally sits in his food bowl to eat, but now he’s spending a lot of time in the bowl and not on his perches. He’s even sleeping there. I wasn’t sure if something was wrong, so I brought him out and he couldn’t curl his talons to hold onto my finger. Is there anything I can do to help him?
My cockteil bird sleeps like shown in figure.. is there any problem with it.. and its feet is hot and it mostly stands in one leg..
-Cockatiel question- Should I give a cockatiel grit? Can you give me a list of fresh fruit and veggies to put in with the pellets and seeds for a daily diet? How much food should I give a cockatiel? Should I offer insects? Should I give two bowls of water? A small one to drink out of and a bigger one to bathe in? Should I give just tap water? Thanks! (I want to get a cockatiel and just want to know these question. I think I know everything else)
What diet should I give to my birds (COCKATIEL) . Pls recommend something other than Pellets as it is not available in my location . I can offer it seed mix, fruits and vegetables and many other food. Pls advice me on what I should feed my cockatiel .
Both of my birds seem to destroy everything made of wood in their cage whether it be a ladder or their perches, what is somethjng I could do about it, I don't want to switch to plastic perches.
I have a pair of cockatiels. One have broken wing and unable to fly. I think its a female due to larger foot size. She is unable to fly thats why male also dont practice flying now. How to be sure that they get required excersize? I feed them dry seeds, millets regularly and occassionally weeds from my terrace garden, spinach, coriander. Tried to feed them rice and fruits but they did not touched them. how can i make my male bird to fly or is it okay if he chooses not to fly? Cage is L4ft*H3ft
