Hi there! I was just wondering, what is a preening toy for birds?
My 13 year old male lovebird has a bunch of poo on his vent. What should I do?
Hello! My parakeet, 6 years old, has developed a thin reddish black growth that seems to be coming from the inside of his beak and splitting off. It's about 1/8 of an inch long. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
What toys are the best for parakeets
Bird looked fine Friday, by Monday the feathers were gone on left side of head & neck, skin is red, cracked, pitted & swollen. The bird is scratching at least 2x per minute, even when eating. I scrubbed caged & everything in it, & sprayed it & bird with mite/lice spray. Is there anything else I should do?
My budgies has very sticky poop and it's very difficult to clean by me also. Her vent area is also now pink color without any feathers. She is eating good but don't know about water intake. Plz suggest something homely.
I've been doing research before I get my cockatiel and one topic I've seen a lot of controversy on is sanding perches. Both on whether to use one or not and where to use it. If you advised to get one where do you advise me to put it? I saw some people say use it as your feeding perch so that the bird is forced to use that and other people say leave it elsewhere and the bird will use it as they choose?
My 8month old alexandrine parakeet is losing his leg grip while climbing height
Noticed our parrot "Beanie" is growing unsteady. He slips off his perches daily and seems to be favoring his left side, meaning perhaps he tweaked his left leg or foot. Maybe arthritis or pain in the leg. What can we do to narrow that down and help our bird.
Our 34 yr old amazon parrot is having issues with her feet. How would she be evaluated to check for arthritis. She is having a bit of trouble staying on her perches at times. She falls to the bottom of the cage but I also see her climb around her cage upside down quite often daily. Thanks for the help.
I desperately need someone with avian expertise. My husband insists over the counter superglue is not a health risk to my African Grey to stop bleeding on occasion when she bleeds from his trimming her claws. Says it's used in surgery. Assume surgical glue is non toxic....Please weigh in. I love my Bird !!!
I've had 2 parakeets for 3yrs now...1 green and 1 blue. My green parakeet has some sort of dark brown crust on her cere. I didn't notice this when I bought her so I'm guessing it developed over time. My blue bird has a white smooth cere. Is the crust on her cere something I should be concerned with (dangerous?). If unnatural, is there a home remedy for this? Or is it something that has to be handled by a Vet. Please inform me as to what this is and if there's anything that can be done about it.
