Are these 1/2" sand perch covers 12" long?
- They are 7.5 inches long, for my bird cage they cover 1/2 of the perch stick.

Are these appropriate for canaries. Only have had parakeets in the past and the sand might be Too course for canary feet.
- Hi PAVAROTTI, Yes, it should be safe for canaries. The main thing to remember with sand perch covers is that these covers cannot be placed on every perch in the habitat because birds need to be able to stand on surfaces that are not abrasive as well to prevent agitation and injury to their feet. I've been doing research before I get my cockatiel and one topic I've seen a lot of controversy on is sanding perches. Both on whether to use one or not and where to use it. If you advised to get one where do you advise me to put it? I saw some people say use it as your feeding perch so that the bird is forced to use that and other people say leave it elsewhere and the bird will use it as they choose?
Do you have any suggestions for litter box or harness training. Also, can I use pine shavings for their bedding as it is not a red wood?
Both of my birds seem to destroy everything made of wood in their cage whether it be a ladder or their perches, what is somethjng I could do about it, I don't want to switch to plastic perches.
I was wondering what are some ways to keep a Conure warm in the winter? I have some tents in my birds cage and recently found out to keep the heat in my house 68 degrees and up. I also use a cage cover at night. Is there anything else I should be doing? He loves to use the kitchen faucet to bathe as well and sometimes gets himself pretty wet. Is that ok if he continues to do that during the winter? He loves to bathe.
I have nine parakeets 3 adults and 6 baby's about 7 months old and she has 12 eggs in the nesting box. I don't want them any more it to many to take care of. Do pets stores take birds back I just don't know how to get rid of them all nine of them a healthy.
