There are a variety of heat lamps available to help keep your terrarium at the proper temperature for your pet reptile. Reptiles are cold-blooded and need heat to be able to digest their food so a heat lamp is required by most. There are a variety of types available, but the wattage of the bulb is going to be dependent on the type of reptile you are housing and the size of your terrarium.
A basking lamp directs the heat down with a reflective material coating inside the bulb itself.
No, a basking bulb is for heat that most reptiles require and typically does not produce UVB (artificial sunlight).
Heat lamps come in a variety of wattages and the amount of heat produced is dependent on the wattage.

I am about to get a crested gecko and have done lots of research, but am nervous I'll kill my crestie. You see, lots of people have different opinions about additional lighting. 1 breeder said a heat lamp killed many of his crested geckos, while another breeder said it killed her geckos when they DIDNT have a heat lamp. Should I get a heat lamp? (My tank is a 12 by 12 by 18, of that helps at all) Also, should that size tank be good for 1 crested gecko for his entire life?
Whay can i do about my hachling iguana over heating
Why isn't my turtle basking? He is just swimming in the water

My snake has lumps on his body. He had mites a month ago and I put him in quarantine and treated him twice with Jurassi Mite. Since then I haven't seen any mites. He also recently got a new CHE bulb over his tub. I'm wondering if they are infections from the mites or burns from the bulb. He's 5 years old and I adopted him 2 months ago. Please help.
SO i am thinking about getting a leopard gecko, but i am not spending a ridiculous amount of money on a cage so i am using a plastic laundrey hamper that seems about maybe 10 gallons and i am setting up little hiddy spots and stuff but i dont know wha tbeedding i should use and how much light they need please hep :)
I have an Indian roofed turtle it has white patches on its top shell and also it has (fungus colour) green coloured patches on starting and ending of the top shell the pattern of on its bottom shell is also fading from a spot , maybe it is shedding its skin from there.I keep the turtle in a tub with normal water and and I keep it in my room I also give him 1 to 2 hours for basking in the sun . I live in Delhi where average temperature nowadays is 27-32C and it is monsoon here . Pls help.
Is there anything I can do to keep my dog comfortable in the heat? He has lar par and gets agitated when it’s very hot! Please help me, he is my Service Dog, I love him dearly and want to help make him comfortable! Thank you!
Our baby girl was due 2 to 4 days ago. And we set up her whelping box with a heater in front of it, as she just loves to lay in front of the heater. We were wondering If the heater could possibly raise her temperature and slow down the labor process. This feels like an eternity and we are ready to have a hyper baby girl back.
Do I need to dry them after bath or they dry themselves? Also what part of the day is best to bath them? Can I bath them in morning when there is little of sun?
Hi, my hatchling red foot tortoise has a problem with keeping his eyes open for very long, he hasn't been eating as much as usual and when he closes his eyes I have to soak him in water to get him to open them back up. When his eyes close it almost looks like they are crusty. I have a cypress mulch and jungle mix substrate in his cage which is about 4 inches at the highest and 1 inch in his basking are but it's kept well watered. Thank You!
