Zoo Med Repti Basking Spot Lamp achieves an appropriate basking site for your pets through a combination of bulb shape and the patented double-reflector focus of the beam. Rather than a broad scope of heat flooding the whole habitat, it focuses a beam of infrared down into your pet's habitat on the hot side, allowing your pet to comfortably thermoregulate.

  • - Ideal for regulating terrariums that house either tropical or desert varieties of reptiles and amphibians
  • - Provides heat as well as beneficial UVA rays
  • - Basking bulb promotes breeding, feeding and overall physical and mental health in your pets
  • - Features a unique patented double reflector
  • - Focuses 35% more heat and light into a tight beam for greatest effect
  • - Reptile heat lamp can last up to 2,000 hours

Doesn't last long

I keep buying these because the specified heat is what I need for my bearded dragon but they just don't last. Since January I've gone through a bulb every two weeks. There's got to be a better bulb out there.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Short life before they blow out.

Bought these for our tortoise. Lamp just sits on top of his tank, is turned on every morning and off every evening. First bulb blew out after about 2 months. And the second bulb last almost 4 months. Pretty annoying to spend $13+ per bulb and they last just a couple of few months each. I'll be looking for a different brand to replace the bulbs this time.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Quality of these is extremely variable

A bulb may last for several (3-4) months, or it may fail after less than one day. It seems that every "value pack" contains one of each.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Don’t buy these, they will not last 30 days.

These suck! The box of two I purchased lasted a month each. Bought a single bulb from another pet store, it lasted a little over 3 weeks. They are terrible and will put your reptile in jeopardy.

No, I do not recommend this product.

So far so good. After reading about so many bulbs being unreliable, I was a bit nervous although I have bought plenty of zoo med products over the years. Hopefully things will last.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Nice and warm.

It warms right up. No complaints whatsoever from the reptile.

First bulb lasted about 3 hours! Waste of money!

I'm new to reptiles keeping and have a little Western Hognose. 75W bulbs were too much so I needed 50W and I bought these only to have the first bulb stop working within 3 hours! The second bulb has lasted a few days already but I don't trust it. Most of the people I've spoke to said Zoo Med bulbs were terrible but I decided to try Zoo Med products anyway. I'll be buying all new fixtures and bulbs from a different company and trashing Zoo Med's stuff. I'm not interested in wasting my money on bulbs that last a few hours, especially since COVID-19 makes everything so difficult.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I'm getting my Daughter a Juvenile Veiled Chameleon for Christmas and wanted to know if this would be a apporpriate product for them?

will this be a good lamp for 1 leopard gecko, in a 10 gal. tank?

    1. I use it for my aquatic turtles in an open environment so I can't really tell you how effective it is in a tank. I'm not familiar with how hot it needs to get in there for geckos, but it works well for basking and my turtles seem to enjoy it. I keep it about 10 inches away or it gets hot. As far as durability, I've had some last for 4 months and some last for over 7 months.

is this good for hermit crabs I'm having trouble with their cage temp.

    1. Hi pumpkin22, I would say that if you are looking for a heat source for your hermit crabs this would not be the set to go with as this is just meant to illuminate the cage in the day and night...just add a little boost for them. For the most part it is just so you can see them and they can see a little better in the dark. I am going to be using this for my Crested Gecko as they have a pretty natural temp requirement, above 70 and below 82 degrees (room temp). I hope this helps you out a little.
