I bought this bulb 3 weeks ago. Today, I went to check the temperature in my snake's enclosure and I noticed the bulb wasn't on. I checked it and it had exploded! Thankfully, it didn't start a fire or harm my snake! I used the correct size in the correct dome, so there is NO reason this should have happened! DO NOT BUY THIS

Within 10 minutes the room smelled like burning plastic, gave me throat irritation and made my geckos breathe weird. 4 days later and they are both dead. These bulbs are toxic and will kill your pet, do not buy them.

Not worth the time or money

Lasted all of three weeks and then the lamp broke away from the metal sleeve while removing. Had to use needle nose to remove the metal sleeve from the fixture. Will not bother buying again, waste of money. I realize bad bulbs can happen. However, considering the poor quality of the night red heat version, plus the bad experience with the basking bulb, I cannot write this off as a coincidence.

I inherited an emperor scorpion from a friend of mine and he came with a small bulb heating lamp. This is the bulb that she'd been putting in the lamp for him to get some heat and light in his enclosure and it's beautiful for that job. The problem that I keep running into is that whenever the bulb blows out (and it does so about once per month, two if I'm lucky), the bulb will break free of the screw in part of the socket and fall out... leaving the metal base of the bulb still screwed into the socket. To fix that, you have to unplug the thing and hope you're handy with needle nose pliers (which thankfully I am) to unscrew the bulb base from the lamp and start over. So it's a good short term product, but I need to start hunting for a better solution.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I bought this thinking it would be perfect to get my savannah monitors basking spot up to the correct temp and it did, for 3 weeks. At that point the glass part broke away from the metal and it was no longer functional. I have done more research since it went out and it seems like nobody has bought one that has lasted longer than a month.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Good product for the frogs. You know what isn’t good? Management at the store. They don’t really care about that much and it shows in the moods of everyone there. They will have close to only 3 people working the whole store and that isn’t fair to anyone

No, I do not recommend this product.

Can I use it for my green tree frog

Does this bulb provide heat and uvb for turtles?

    1. No

Can I use it for a hermit crab

    1. No. Hermit crabs should not be under heat bulbs, it will cook them and kill the humidity. Plus, hermits should be in sealed tanks with an acrylic or glass top lid since they breathe humidity, so having a heat source above glass could cause a break. Instead, you need a heat mat along the entire back wall, above the 6 inches of substrate they need. Hermit crabs are a lot more work to do properly and will live longer if you do outside research. It's also 10g per hermit crab, and they're social so there should be a minimum of 2; so a 20g long is really the minimum for 2. Plus you'll need 5 natural shells per crab... so you're looking at a decent amount of space with a heavy tank since you need 6 inches of substrate with a 5:1 ratio of playsand and eco earth. It's important you don't use Hermit crab specific sand since it's all Calcium sand, which will collapse their tunnels and kill them. It's look at Crab Central's YouTube channel for info on them because they're amazing pets, but really do require a fair bit of outside research.

How much heat does this light provide? I have hatchling slider turtles. I already have a 5.0 UVB bulb. But they need a pit more of a warm spot to bask however every basking light I buy is too hot. What would you suggest?

    1. I cannot tell you exactly how much heat the Nano basking bulb will provide as it depends on the temperature of your house and the size of your enclosure. You can try the 25 watt Nano bulb and see if that is still getting to hot, if it is you can always try adjusting your lamp a little higher up to decrease the heat.

    Is this a uvb bulb?

    1. The Nano basking spot lamp does not provide UVB, you will need another bulb like our Reptisun 10.0 or Reptisun 5.0 bulb for UVB.
