This is more of a helpful tip! When installing these bulbs make sure you have a barrier between your fingers and the bulb. Halogen bulbs can balloon and then burn out when they come in contact with the oils on our fingers. Paper towel work best when handling the bulbs. Improves the life of them and they won’t burn out as fast. I personally prefer the halogen over other bulbs.

I bought the fixture and bulbs on May 30, and installed on June 1st. I have on timer, so they are only on 8 hrs a day. The bulbs burned out yesterday. That is far less than the advertised 2000 hrs that they were said to last. Very dissatisfied.

How hot does this light get? I have the 24in tall exo terra and my crested gecko climbing things are towards the top of the tank.
- It's perfect for that kind of set up. My house is about 70 degrees during the day and the cool side of the tank is 72 with this bulb. My set up is similar where my crestie has a branch that leads up to where the bulb is. He does really well with it.

I’m getting a corn snake and already have a heating pad, should I get this too or will it make it too hot.
- Hi there, Maddi! This depends on the size of the terrarium and distance from the basking platform. Check the temperature of the warm side of the terrarium with the heat mat. It should be between 88F and 92F. If you need more heat, add a 25w mini halogen bulb in a Low Profile Single fixture. Check the temperature again. If it’s too high, you may need to adjust the height of the fixture above the screen.

would this be good for a leopard gecko in a 20 gallon long? i don't need it for heat, just for lighting.
- well halogen bulbs produce heat so if you can use it as a heat source then i definitely suggest it. but if you can keep temp of their basking spot at 90 without the bulb then you can just get a uvb light

Can I use this for my crested gecko?
- You can use the bulb for light, but these mini halogen bulbs produce no UVB at all, which a crested gecko needs. The Zilla Mini Compact Fluorescent Bulb would be great for a crested gecko and will provide 6 watts of UVB/UVA light to maintain a healthy reptile.
