Dog recovery cones and collars are a popular and necessary item for any pet's medical treatment. These cones, usually made of plastic or fabric, are used to limit the movement of your pet's head and paws, protecting them from licking and scratching at injuries or surgical sites. Recovery collars provide an added layer of protection, preventing your pup from removing the cone and furthering their injury or surgical area.
The best selling dog recovery cone brands are:
Dog cones are used to aid the healing process and keep our dogs from further damaging or infecting wounds.
Your dog should wear a cone as long as they have vulnerable spots on their body. Whether it’s a wound they shouldn’t bite, or a topical balm they shouldn’t lick. Most dogs get used to it after a day or so.
Yes! Dogs should keep their cone on the entire duration of their recovery period—on walks, while they eat, and sleep—so that they become more accustomed to wearing it.
Dog cones are made with the right materials and dimensions to work correctly while keeping your pet secure. We don’t recommend trying to DIY one yourself.
Dog cones and recovery collars are used to prevent a dog from licking, scratching, or biting wounds or injuries. They protect the area from further irritation and aid in the healing process. They also help to prevent the dog from aggravating any existing conditions due to excessive licking or scratching.
It depends on the size of your dog, as well as its age and activity level. Generally, you should choose a recovery cone that is slightly larger than your dog’s head circumference for maximum comfort and to prevent it from reaching areas it shouldn't.

I neutered my male dog yesterday and he was on with the E collar(cone) but from yesterday he wants to take it off non stop and didn’t sleep at night at all. And he partially ruiend the cone and managed to chew it! Is there another way except the cone?I heard of the surgical suits. Will it be helpful?I attached the suite Thank you in advance
Do you think my dogs stitches are healing well from being spayed she wears the cone since she left the vets
How long Do I need to keep my dog coned yo avoid licking her incision?
Is there an ear protector for a dog that has had ear surgery besides an e-collar. If not, are there e-collars that fasten with velcro instead of the plastic slots which are very difficult to fasten.?
I got my dog a comfycone. He is 3lb and I was wondering if it covers his face enough for when he gets neuterred in 1 week. He is not used to an e collar so in the pics he may look sad.
Hi, I wanted to know if my cat has been healing properly. She was spayed at April 2nd and now it's been almost a week. She's been bouncing around, eating, sleeping, uses the litter box regularly and etc... She has disolvable sutures. And I decided to buy her a little post op surgical suit because it's hard for her to eat and use the bathroom with the cone (she's escapes the cone). Do you have any advice on before and after the cone? the pictures from the left are from day one up to today.
I’m planning on neutering Scooby soon, I am not able to have him inside for the recovery. Besides getting a kennel for him what other ways can I make the recovery easier for him? He is a very high energy dog and I am worried he’ll take the cone off and take the stitches out.
My dog is going to get neutered in less then 2 weeks and he is 3 lbs so I think a cone would be hard on him because he has never worn one and they are really heavy in him he cant even stand so should I get a non lick spray so he doesn't lick the wound and put a belly band on him which is a wrap that covers the wound?
My dog has had surgery on Wednesday to remove a tumor from her leg. She has now ripped off her bandages and I have spoken with my sis in law who is a vet nurse and she explained how to put it back on until we get the bandages changed on Monday. Our dog hates the cone, to the point she gets so stressed and starts running backwards. We are worried she is going to hurt herself so we had to take it off. We need an alternative please help this is so stressful!!!
My dog just got neutered. He's not doing well with the cone. Can I put a belly band or diaper on him?.
We had our 5 year old cat spayed today and she kept taking her cone off so we bought her a vest, but everytime we leave the room she somehow manages to get out of it! What shall I do? She isn't biting the stitches, just cleaning them then leaving them alone. Thanks
Hello! My little kitty had sutures put in yesterday for a superficial wound. I was just curious, I’m worried about him continuing to take his cone off. Would it be okay if I made him a little jacket that covers it so he can’t get to it still. As long as he’s not locking and biting at it right?
