Slow feeders or interactive feeders slow down the speed at which dogs consume their food. They can help prevent speedy eaters from vomiting or choking at mealtimes. If your dog eats very quickly and then gets gassy or bloated, then a dog slow feeder can help improve their health and comfort.
Yes, you can put wet dog food in a slow feeder. However, there are licking mats that are specifically designed for wet dog food or dog food toppers. If you are going to use a slow feeder bowl, be sure to clean it before each feeding.
Dog slow feeders work by making it more difficult for your dog to gulp down a meal. Dogs either need to eat around obstacles or solve simple puzzles to get access to their dog food.
Dog slow feeders can help prevent discomfort, bloating and vomiting.

How can I help slow down my dog’s eating?
Are there specific purposes for a slow feed bowl other than to slow down a dogs eating? Does it help them digest their food better or help them in any specific way? For example my dog eats rather fast, will a slow feed bowl provide any additional benefits besides just slowing down her eating?
I bought a slow feeder from the pet store to slow down my cat's eating but she is barely eating and she will walk away from the dish. I don't know what to do if I go back to feeding her like I was she will gorge on her food and then throw it up. How can I get her to start eating more from the slow feeder?
I adopted a very overweight dog. I am working on weight management and she has lost some weight but I'm concerned as she gobbles her food down literally in a minute. I just bought the puzzle bowl but she can only reach one morsel at a time using her tongue as she is a big dog. This doesn't seem right either but I don't know. It definitely slowed her eating. Advice please.
Midnight just had his yearly check up and everything was good. I have noticed that he eats real fast and then throws up his food. So we got him a slow feeder bowl. It helped a little but once in a while he still eats too fast and throws it all up. What else can i do to help him slow down?
Hi, is it necessary or benificial to add water to dry kibble and soak it before feeding? Will this enable them to digest the kibble better? I heard this is helpful and comparable to feeding a canned diet. I would add 1/2 cup per 1/3 cup of kibble. This would make it resemble a canned diet of 80% moisture. Is this a good idea? Also, do you recommend a slow feeder bowl for fast eaters? Or is it ok to use a regular bowl? Mine eats her serving in under a minute (1/3 cup kibble)
I have a 6 month old female German Shepard mix, she doesn't use her tongue at all. Not to drink, eat or to give kisses. She has never stuck it out of her mouth. Well she eats really fast and I don't want her to get bloat. But she won't eat out of the slow feeding bowls because she won't stick her tongue out her mouth. I've tried the big rock in the bowl she still scarfes her food down, what can I do?
I have a 4 month old boston terrier/border collie mix puppy that always acts like hes hungary and when I feed him his meal he will eat his food whole. He is up to date on his puppy shots and will sit and wait until I put the food down. But will down his food in less than 30 seconds what can I do to help him slow down and chew his food?
Why does my dog not chew his food? We have the special bowl that slows him down, but still throws up whole meals every now and then. Great quality food... no reason for why he gets sick. Should we switch to wet food?
My dog keeps eating to fast. She is only 3.5 pounds, but she was choking so I made her drink some water out of a bottle. But how can I make her stop choking and eat slower??
My puppy swallows her food whole, it is a smaller kibble. We were soaking it in water until a few days ago, but she swallows it whole either way. We got a slow feeder bowl to try and slow her down and hopefully encourage her to chew at some point. Is it bad that she is not chewing her food? I thought about changing to a larger kibble, but she is small and I don’t want her to choke/don’t want to mess up her digestion and bowel movements
Until now, I was soaking my puppies food in water. She would eat it very fast without chewing. We got a slow feeder bowl to encourage her to chew, but she is still swallowing the dry food whole. Will she eventually chew it? Is the kibble too small? Is this bad for her digestion if she doesn’t chew, she does well going to the bathroom. Thanks!
