Perches are an essential part of a proper finch or canary habitat, providing a place for your bird to securely stand where they feel safe above the ground. Perches may be single wooden dowels, ropes, imitate tree branches or even textured to help keep your bird’s nails trimmed. Providing an assortment of properly sized perches can help provide your bird with plenty of options to rest in their habitat, as well as encourage proper foot health. As you arrange the perches provide access to the feeder and waterer along with a few bird toys.
Perches for a canary or finch should be at least ¼ to ½ inch in diameter. Providing a variety or perch sizes can help your bird(s) to exercise their feet to help prevent arthritis.
Multiple perches of appropriate, but varying sizes and textures should be arranged in your canary or finch habitat to exercise feet and help prevent arthritis.
A sand or concrete perch can help keep your bird's nails trimmed. Keep in mind that not every perch should be made of sand or concrete as constantly standing on those perches could cause sores on your bird's feet.

What are the best type of perches for my two year old male black capped conure?
My Canary, Ringo, has a Cage that has a peaked roof, like a house. I have a chance to get a Flat-topped roof, larger cage. Which type of cage do Canaries like? I prefer the house-style cage, as it is more attractive. But, I realize Canaries don't know about their cage being attractive. Ringo would be able to fly more in the larger cage. Is the Peaked Roof just a Personal, Human Preference? And, Not the Canaries?
I have two happy male society finches in a cage approx 3 feet long and 14" wide, 24.5 inches high. Can I add a 3rd male. There's one that has been in the pet store for months. Awful. Tiny cage.

What toys are the best for parakeets
I am looking for the best pellets for my canaries. Last year they were on a seed diet, but I slowly switched them over to Zumpreem Fruit Blend. However, I've read that the Fruit Blend has a lot of artificial coloring and sugars. I'm having trouble finding information for what the best pellets are. Please help!
Both of my birds seem to destroy everything made of wood in their cage whether it be a ladder or their perches, what is somethjng I could do about it, I don't want to switch to plastic perches.
My male finch has a swollen, watery eye, is clacking with his beak, his song is higher, he breathing with his mouth open, rocking back and forth on his perch although not distressed, just calmer than usual. Also the black spots at the top of his beak became thicker. What could this be? Thank you.

I bought two finches.Later i felt that they are both males so I bought two female finches, one died. Now my problem is I provided them a nest two of the finches, which i earlier thought to be males, enter the nest leaving the other female finch outside. The female finch's beak is lighter than the other two finches that enter the cage. What should i Do?should i buy another male/female finch and provide another nesting?i am posting photos of the two finches that enter the cage. Are they pair or same type
I've been doing research before I get my cockatiel and one topic I've seen a lot of controversy on is sanding perches. Both on whether to use one or not and where to use it. If you advised to get one where do you advise me to put it? I saw some people say use it as your feeding perch so that the bird is forced to use that and other people say leave it elsewhere and the bird will use it as they choose?
What is some bird cage recommendation for 2 parakeet at the lowest price available, or if by any chance a free unwanted bird cage at nyc., Thank you
