All dogs handle their toys a little differently. Some dogs prefer to cuddle with their toys, while others have more fun being aggressive (and occasionally destructive) with toys. If you’re looking for a more durable toy that holds up to your pup that likes to play hard, we have a wide variety of durable toys at Petco. Gift your dog a new toy that will withstand chewing over time.
The most durable dog toys tend to be made of hard rubber or rope.
The best thing you can do is purchase a toy made of durable materials that’s intended for rough play.
That depends! Just because a dog is large doesn’t mean they will want to play a certain way. Try out a few different variations to see what they like best.
You’re in the right place. All of the toys on this page are intended for dogs who are prone to destroying their soft toys.

Hello, my dog is a 2 year old German Shepherd, Boxer, Rottweiler, Chow Chow mix, (that's a mouthful!) and he destroys every toy we give him! He has never chewed on furniture, (even as a puppy) or clothes or shoes. But we've purchased every toy under the sun and he still rips them to shreds! We've gotten indestructible toys like, fire hose toys, Kong toys, etc. We gave him a thigh bone from a cow and he broke it with one chomp. Is there something better? Or do we just replace toys? Thank you.
My puppy loves chewing on wood, and all the chew toys that I buy for him that are wood type he chews through in two days. Is there any wood type heavy duty toys for him?
I have a 7 month old amstaff mix who loves to chew. I'm at a loss as to what to give her. I've been told antlers and nylon bones will break or wear away teeth. However, she destroys chew toys that are pliable/able to be indented with a finger nail in 15 minutes. Any suggestions?
Could you recommend a good brand of toys, treats or bones for puppies who are teething?
What is the best and safest chew toy for a 7 month old Bassett?
I'm struggling to find toys that are fun and suitable for my 9 month old gsd pup. I have a kong, a kong ring and a couple of rope toys. He seems to like the kong for a little and the rope toys are fun for tug of war. I have children with stuffed animals and I don't want him to attribute those to chew toys if I get puppy toys that looked like stuffed animals...Also for chew time are Bully sticks the safest/best thing I can give him or do you have any recommendations for that as well?
Question on bones and chews: Which can harm teeth (canines mainly) Bully sticks Retriever Rawhide (no knots at ends) Antlers (chew with back teeth and rarely) Nylabone Petsafe Wood Chew
I have an older yellow lab that gets bored really easily. He gets bored with kongs and is an extreme chewer so rawhides or other chewies disappear SUPER fast! He is very intelligent and I was thinking of getting him a puzzle toy that involves treats as he is EXTREMELY food motivated! Since he's so smart should I still start him on the most basic puzzle or try something harder? I don't want to waste money on toys he'll go through really fast. And are there any other sorts of toys you can suggest?
Our puppy is 8 weeks. Like to chew everything. He’s got chew toys, different types. Are dogbones ok? Rawhide? Recommendations? Pics for ides/reference.
My Chihuahua has really bad teeth. A lot of them had to be removed. He's 16 and he can't play with a lot of the toys that he use to. I've tried soft toys and toys for seniors but that's a no go for him. Any suggestions? I want to be able to keep him entertained, but have the remainder of his teeth not hurt.
My 3 week puppies are starting to teeth. I was wondering if there are any safe toys I could give them to chew on.
I am looking for a heavy duty retractable Leah’s to use for my corgi because she chewed through the other one I had. Need something that she can not chew through and still be retractable. Any suggestion?
