Grain-free and gluten-free diets have become increasingly widespread, and with them, tasty and nutritious foods are now made without difficult-to-digest grains. That’s not just true for pet parents—grain-free diets have become more popular for cats too. Learning whether grain-free cat treats and foods are a good option for your pet—and which foods and treats are the most popular or nutritionally optimal—can sometimes seem overwhelming. And Petco has a range of wholesome and delicious wheat-free cat treats and foods to make it easy, so you can satisfy your cat’s cravings and soothe their tummy.
In the wild, felines wouldn’t typically eat grains. Some pet parents prefer to feed their kitties grain-free cat treats and food to more closely mimic a cat’s natural carnivorous diet. Other pet parents enjoy giving their cats food that is less processed. Since grains and grain byproducts are often used as filler in cat food, some grain-free cat treats and foods have a higher concentration of nutritionally dense ingredients as a result. If you’re unsure which foods, treats and supplements are most beneficial for your cat, consult your veterinarian and Petco’s Cat Food Finder.
Some cats have a difficult time digesting grain, and some even have sensitivities or allergies to grains commonly found in cat foods and treats. While rare, these conditions do exist, and your veterinarian may recommend a grain-free diet for your cat if they have food sensitivities. Gluten-free or wheat-free cat treats and foods might be recommended to help combat itchy skin, general inflammation or poor digestion. If you’re unsure whether your cat would benefit from a grain-free diet, consult your veterinarian for guidance and then browse Petco cat treats for tasty selections your cat will enjoy.
In most cases, grain-free cat treats and food are just as safe, if not safer, as standard cat food. Just make sure that whatever you feed your cat is nutrient-rich and made from beneficial ingredients. It should contain high-quality protein and an assortment of vitamins and minerals to ensure optimal nutrition for your cat. Look for best-selling grain-free cat treats if you’re interested in grain-free formulas that have been tried and approved by other pet parents. Petco’s best-selling grain-free cat food is a great place to start.
The same principles that apply to grain-free cat food should guide your choice of grain-free cat treats. Some beloved wheat-free cat treats brands have become especially beloved for their quality, value and flavor. Once you’ve browsed Petco’s grain-free cat food, it’s just a matter of which flavors and textures your cat prefers. Perhaps your favorite feline would enjoy a WholeHearted chicken recipe shredded treat in broth or an ORIJEN freeze-dried fish and poultry treat. There’s only one way to find out what your cat likes best, so pick some Petco cat treats and let your kitty start sampling.

Hi, I would like to know what’s a good brand name grain free cat food to give my Cat.?
Best low-carb wet food for cats?
Hello! Is grain free canned food safe for my cat?
Hello. I am currently feeding my 1 year old cat Royal Canin Selected Protein PR Dry Cat Food due to his food allergies. All is good and well with the food but I was wondering if anybody had suggestions for treats? He cannot have chicken or seafood of any sort. I've tried PureBites and he wouldn't touch them. Any brands of treats that you guys recommend? I am also open to making homemade treats if that's a good place to start.
Does a grain-free diet reduce the chances of urinary tract disease in cats?

Is it safe to give my cat grain free food? Is it bad for the heart?
Hello! Would like to ask about grain free cat foods. My cat prefer grain free foods, and doesn't want to eat the ones with grains. Her vet told me it is better if she eats the ones woth the grains beacause the grain free ones can hurt her heart. But, I also hear vets abroud that say it is not a problem. Would like to hear another opinion please, thanks.
Is grain free dog/cat food better for my pets?? How do I know how to pick a good quality food??
My vet has prescribed to may cat Royal canin SO (as he had Urinary disease). However, I read its ingredients, it contains lots of grain and carbs, meat quality and content are also very dubious (probably 4D meats). Are there any alternatives against urinary disease, but grain-free, low carbs and good meat?
Cat diagnosed hyperthyroid. Vet sold us Hills Thyroid. Full of corn and cat allergic to corn. She doesn't know iodine content of other foods. Need high protein, no grain, no fish, good taurine and low salt and iodine below .4. Can't seem to find that info. Bought Merrick Purrfect Bistro Grain Free Chicken which met requirements. But it is dry and 1/3 of it is powder. Have always used Natural Balance but iodine is 2.2. Can you tell me what the iodine/salt content is in a food that will work
