Hello. I am sorry that Bayleigh isn't feeling well. Decreasing any seizure medication can result in a seizure, and is never recommended without direct veterinary supervision. If you feel that the Zonisamide is resulting in negative side effects, chat with your vet about switching to either Pexion or Phenobarbital or Keppra. These are newer medications that may have less side effects for Bayleigh. Depending on her levels and the medications, your vet will tell you how to switch safely. Good luck with her!

Hello, and thank you for using Boop by Petco. Uh oh, naughty dog! Fortunately, your dogs are close enough in size that I’m not worried about an overdose, and a single dose of these medications shouldn’t cause a major problem for him. However, I would recommend touching base with your Vet since they know his specific history, and watch for symptoms of GI upset that can occur with any new medication. Hope this helps.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding DeeDee. I am sorry to hear about the severity of her seizures. It does not sound like she is adequately controlled on her current medications. There is a prescription diet by Purina Proplan Veterinary Diets called Neurocare that may help. There are other anti-seizure drugs. I like a medication called zonisamide, but it may need to be specially formulated given her small size. You may want to consider seeing a neurologist if you have not done so already. Her ongoing care is unfortunately going to be expensive given her young age and the severity of her disease. I hope this information helps.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding your dog. I recommend contacting his veterinarian. He will likely need to start another medication to control his seizures. Phenobarbital, potassium bromide and zonisamide are common choices. However, your veterinarian will know his medical history and which would be the best choice. Being able to have his seizures better controlled will improve his quality of life. I hope this information helps!

Sometimes the anti-seizure medication needs to be increased to control the seizures, there is a chance they could get worse over time as you've seen. I think upping Mali's dosage is a good idea, and see how this helps her. If it doesn't, take her back into the vet.
