My dog started having seizures back in May. She since has been put on zonisamide twice a day to control her seizures. She went 6 weeks without having one since she was first put on zonisamide and had 3 today. Thinking she may have epilepsy. Would epilepsy prevail over the zonisamide? The vet sent her home with instructions to up her dosage of zonisamide. She is also diabetic and takes insulin but her levels were normal after the seizures. Any input?
I have an 8 year old chesapeake who is epileptic. She is taking 100 mg Zonisamide tablets (2 tablets twice a day), and Potassium Bromide solution (4.5 cc/ night). I can't reduce her potassium bromide dosage because she will seizure. I was wondering if I could reduce the Zonisamide dosage. She has been extra dizzy lately, and I know that is one of the main side effects of Zonisamide. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
My lab takes zonisamide as a seizure preventative. I gave it to her with food this evening and within about 45 mins she threw up. I didn’t see the pills in her vomit so don’t necessarily want to give her another dose... so my question really is, is it ok to skip a dose of the zonisamide if she did in fact throw it up?
My dog took her seizure medication and then threw up about 30 min later. Should I administer another dose. Zonisamide 25 mg Yorkie 6lbs
If I accidentally give my dog double dose of zonisamide will it hurt him? He is 10lbs and takes 10mg twice a day. 13!years oldz
My dog takes 750mg Keppra and 400mg zonisamide twice a day. Tonight she got her pills twice by accident 90 minutes apart. She seems fine but is this serious?
I do not know if my dog got his second dose of Zonisamide. He takes three 100 mg pills twice a day and 61 lbs. He did get his am dose, not sure on the pm dose.
Our 4 yr old shepherd has been having seizures since she was 1 1/2. She's on pheno and zonisamide. She has seizures every 4 to 6 wks. She has been having cluster's also, usually 3 or 4 in a 24hr period. She hasn't yet been spayed. Do you think getting her spayed will help reduce the seizures?
9yr pitmix started having seizures on Feb 27th vet said blood and x-rays were good. Seized again 28th, gives zonisamide, total of 13 seizures until March 2nd. Not 1 seizure since. Had complete amnesia March 2-7.. Now she has squinty red eyes, tilts & shakes head, paws at eyes, and ears, lack energy, appetite, wobbly sometimes. Is this Allergies, ear infection, side effects of meds?
Pomeranian(2y/o, 7lbs) has concerning episodes. He lays down, drools, whimpers, becomes dazed&unresponsive. Paces around with weak rear end&tail between legs/legs dragging. Started when he was 1y/o. Vets thought: liver shunt, IBD, anxiety & seizures/epilepsy(new). Palletar Luxation was confirmed. Prescribed meds: gabapentin(pain), omeprazole(stomach upset), zonisamide(seizures), clonidine(anxiety). blood&urine tests came back fine. Episodes occur everyday for 2-3hrs. What’s causing this? Help..

Our dog is 7 and has cluster seizures for three years. They come every month. She is on zonisimide, keppra, and potassium bromide. Nothing seems to stop them from coming. Is incontinenence a precursor to a seizure
