Sucralfate

My cat has GI bleeding due to an ulcer (blood in his stool), my vet prescribed sucralfate but it made my cat vomit about an hour and a half after him taking it, and he threw up his food. Is there an alternative to sucralfate? and why does this medication cause him to throw up? and should I stop giving it to him?

dog diagnosed with advanced kidney disease yesterday 16 years old lab mix. Received fluids yesterday. put on sucralfate 1g tablet daily and ranitidine 150mg once daily 2 hours later. I gave sucralfate on empty stomach and 2 hours later ranitidine but with 2 slices of white bread Not knowing to give on empty stomach. 5-10 mins later he pooped and diahrea+ attempting to poop for 10 minutes. It's been 6 hours. wonder if he will be ok or more diahrea tomorrow if ranitidine given on empty stomach

My dog is 13. He has been on a round of amoxicillin, sucralfate and metronidazole for an infection. He has been off the meds for 4 days and he now again has blood in his poop.

My dog is on Famotidine, Sucralfate and Metronidazole to help treat bloody poop he had from Rimadyl. He developed diarrhea this morning after being on the new set of medicine for 36 hours. Is this a side effect of the new medicine and is there anything that can be done to help? He is eating the chicken and rice meals just fine and drinking water normally.

Our dog has thrown up about six times since I posted the original question in March. Everytime he throws up we visited our vet she always just prescribes a bland white rice diet, sucralfate and pepcid AC. Last time was 1.5-2 weeks ago and we insisted she do an ultrasound. Hello, my cat had been puking on and off, has lost about 3/4 of her weight and is now refusing to eat, but she will drink water constantly until she pukes again. Our vet has give an injected antibiotic for uti, and has put her on steroids for possible stomache cancer. Her bloodwork and urinalysis have been consistantly fine, xrays have showed nothing of concern. I'm convinced that she may have ulcers because the vet tests have shown nothing, what is a safe antacid for her.?

How do i use slippery elm to help reduce acid reflux? Does it have to be given away from food like it does with meds?

My dog was neutered today and was sent home with carafate (surcarfate). I never known that to be used for “pain”, I was told by one doctor I could give him Tylenol 8mg per pound but I’ve also always been told to never give a dog Tylenol so is it safe? Or is there anything I can give him?

Hello! Per an old vet, I am giving my cat 1/4 a 10mg tab of famotidine daily. Unfortunately, it seems as though it runs out before the 24 hrs and around 3-4 in the morning, she is getting reflux (not all days, but some). Is it possible to give her 1/4 tab in the AM and then again in the PM, to ensure we do not have the gaps? I know I have to take my acid reducer twice a day, but I wanted to ask, and they are 2 hours away. Thank you!
