My cat has GI bleeding due to an ulcer (blood in his stool), my vet prescribed sucralfate but it made my cat vomit about an hour and a half after him taking it, and he threw up his food. Is there an alternative to sucralfate? and why does this medication cause him to throw up? and should I stop giving it to him?
My dog is 13. He has been on a round of amoxicillin, sucralfate and metronidazole for an infection. He has been off the meds for 4 days and he now again has blood in his poop.
Is it normal for a dog to breathe sort of slow and evenly while on Cerenia, Famotidine, and Sucralfate? She’s been lethargic and non-energetic since we gave her the first dose of Cerenia last night, and i’ve been in contact w my vet. They prescribed the famotidine bc she was having some side effects. She seems to be In a deep sleep right now, but will wake up when I interact w her. I just want to know if she’s okay
My dog is on Famotidine, Sucralfate and Metronidazole to help treat bloody poop he had from Rimadyl. He developed diarrhea this morning after being on the new set of medicine for 36 hours. Is this a side effect of the new medicine and is there anything that can be done to help? He is eating the chicken and rice meals just fine and drinking water normally.
He's currently taking sucralfate three times a day for ten days, metronidazole twice a day for ten days, cerenia once a day for two more days, she's also prescribed omeprazole twice a day for fourteen days. What's the best order to give these in? I'm having a hard time figuring out the best way to give these to him. Is there anything I should watch out for while he's on these?
IBD has improved alot w/prolisec daily, Hills z/d-small meals thru day(tho never been a big eater in general)cerenia&metoclopramide as needed (meto 4 pain) still has some digesting/gas probs now & then but overall lot better during day. hes still BAD at nite. up all nite licking paws or he will wake up middle of nite start swallowing/regurgitate-ish sounds (similar 2 bilious vomiting maybe?no vomit tho) gas & have to rub belly, meds dont rly help. Any ideas? If bv would sucralfate at nite help?
My five year old boxer, rescued him three months ago, throws up several times after he eats . Mostly liquid , with a few pieces of semi digested pieces of food. Been going on for awhile now. Vet gave us sucralfate and famotidine which doesn't seem to help much and can't be a long term solution??. I've tried grain free food , expensive food..... Looking for any ideas. Seems to do ok when I just feed him sliced turkey instead of dog food. Thinking there has to be a dog food that he can stomach.
My Dachshund has a stomach ulcer and is hurting a lot after every meal it seems. I was sick & didn't give her the sucralfate for 1 day and she actually seemed much better. I started giving it to her again every 12 hrs and she is hurting & whining all the time. Can I stop giving that medication or should I continue until its gone? This is week 3 & it's been refilled once. Would it be harmful or helpful? She still has Omeprazole & probiotics and is on a bland diet if that makes a difference.
Our dog has thrown up about six times since I posted the original question in March. Everytime he throws up we visited our vet she always just prescribes a bland white rice diet, sucralfate and pepcid AC. Last time was 1.5-2 weeks ago and we insisted she do an ultrasound. Still she hasn't called us with results yet. It's getting really expensive to keep going back why does he keep vomiting blood at night every few weeks waking us in distress, and why can't our vet just tell us what exactly is wr
Which medicines are best to soothe gastric ulcers in dogs due to polycistic kidney disease?
Which medicine to be preferred for chronic ulcer
Puppy seen in ED on 8/4 after swallowing 81 mg ASA ... given med to throw up. Put on carafate TID x7 days, told to follow bland diet (have been giving him rice BID). Vomited x1 (yellow tinged with full rice particles) today...does he need to be seen by vet or is this common given he is not eating his regular diet? (only eating BID like his normal schedule despite giving med TID)
