This will vary depending on how often your dog tests the boundary. In most cases, Pet Safe collar batteries will last one to three months and in some cases up to six months. To get the most out of your PetSafe collar, turn off the product when not in use and test the battery at least once per month to ensure it’s working effectively.
First, choose a location on the ground floor of your home that’s dry, well-ventilated, and near a standard wall outlet and plug in your wireless fence transmitter. The transmitter functions as the center of the circular containment area, so choose a location that works with the boundaries you’d like. Next, test the containment area by turning on the transmitter, holding the test light tool to the contact points on the receiver collar and walking away from the transmitter. Listen for a tone, which indicates the boundary of your containment area. To adjust the boundaries, use the boundary switch on the transmitter, or move the transmitter itself.
PetSafe makes a variety of collars, from receiver collars that work with electronic fencing to bark collars that use spray, static, vibration or ultrasonic tones. To ensure the proper setup and correction levels for your pet, please carefully read and understand the user guide for your specific collar.
Yes, with the proper installation and training, PetSafe wireless dog fences create a circular containment area for your pet up to 180 feet in diameter, wherever you need it. With wireless fence systems, there’s no need to dig or bury wires, so they’re easy to set up in one to two hours. Remember, training is essential to make any electronic barrier work, and static products should not be used on pets that are aggressive, sick, pregnant, or under 6 months old.

Question on bones and chews: Which can harm teeth (canines mainly) Bully sticks Retriever Rawhide (no knots at ends) Antlers (chew with back teeth and rarely) Nylabone Petsafe Wood Chew
My cat has developed feline acne/black heads around his bottom lip. It went away briefly, but has come back and seems to now be spreading to the other side. I use ceramic water and food dishes and wash daily. The only cat with this is a 3 yo male orange/white Tabby--Jack. A friend suggested it may be a food allergy, but he doesn't show any symptoms of an allergy other than the acne. I use natural cleaners at home and use the PetSafe Scoop Free litter system-could it be the litter crystals?
I have two neutered cats who love being outside. We live in a mountainous area with wildlife, so we are trying to keep them inside but they learned how to open doors. We are trying to decide b/w a wireless pet fence in our yard where they wear large-ish shock collars (even though they are smaller for cats) all the time as the company says not to wear for more than 12 hours or to just put cat trackers on them and find them every night. Which is safer?
After speaking with our veterinarian I was able to train my dog not to run up to people or other dogs while off leash by using premium treats outside and less premium treats while indoors. My current issue is shes running into our neighbours backyard (new subdivision, no yard/fences etc.) because they throw food back there. I don’t drive and there’s no dog park nearby. I want her to run and play ball. Do you think it would be a bad idea to get a remote shock collar?
Are underground fences a good affordable option for 2 pitbulls? How safe are the shock collars longer-term?
Could you please recommend an activity tracker for my puppy (one that does not require a monthly subscription)?
thoughts on bark collars?
A racoon or possum may be showing interest in my cat flap door that is installed in storm door,... is there anything I can put there over night when closed to repel? Will lavender branch or rosemary or mint keep them away? Will keeping outside flood liget keep them away? Any suggestions or experience will be greatly appreciated. I love in new jersey usa. Thanks and blessings to all there.
I have a seven month old Shih-Poo who is well behaved jnside, but if she accidentally gets out the gate, she becomes a wild dog and is almost impossible to catch her. How can I get her to come to me when outside?
So my puppy chews her fencing of her dog run. A high respected trainer recommended a remote stem collar, as it isn’t SA as she doesn’t care about me when she comes out just wants to sniff and play outside, so what I’m going to do is have someone leave in a car and stay and if she chews the run she gets a stem, the trainer said she trained a few dogs with same issue and fixed within a week -2. I got Esky Dog Shock collar a good brand? Is this mean? I think it’s crueler to let her break her teeth
Hi, my puppy dog is confused about where to poop. She sleeps in her bed in the balcony, and she pees normally in her pee pads in the balcony. But when it comes to poop, she thinks she needs to enter the house and poop in the carpet, as if the house would be the "exterior" and the right place. We recognize with treats when she pees in the balcony, but we're looking for a way to change her habit of wanting to poop inside the house. Thanks so much in advance!
What is the best and safest chew toy for a 7 month old Bassett?
