That set up looks perfect for Kitter. Thanks for including pictures. The reality is that cats sleep when we are at work, so my only concern at 14 years old is that he is able to comfortably jump up to the second level in order to access his bed. As long as he is able to make that jump easily, I think he will be very comfortable in that cage while he gets acclimated to his new home. Good luck! Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! I think you are asking how to train your cat to not go through the door to the outside deck? Cats are very hard to train. You can use a noise deterrent or water squirt bottle to essentially scare Gracie from going near the door but I don't recommend that. It is environmental enrichment to allow cats to look outside. My suggestion is to keep the screen closed unless you are there on the deck. If you want to allow her on the deck when you can watch her then do so. There are ways to clicker train and positively reinforce animals to sit at the door and not go through it. This will take time and cats do not train as well as dogs. Have a great day!

Charlie should be able to tolerate a very large dog style crate or a cat condo for days to a week or so. Cats often stay in similar sized cages while boarding, however be aware that cats confined will need litter changed several times daily and he would benefit from interactive toys. If possible, he may do better if allowed to be closed into a room vs a crate. Other options may be long term boarding if needed, if there is a cat facility near you with larger cages/condos available. It must be so stressful for Princess to have a new dog in the home! You are doing exactly the right thing by keeping her food and litter separated with the gate, but it does sound like she is stressed. I would get a Feliway diffuser for her, which helps cats with anxiety. I'd also keep the dog and Princess in separate rooms from each other divided by the gate. It will give her a safe space of her own where she can smell the dog but not be in contact with it. Once she's more comfortable with the dog, you can remove the gate. I would also get her a cat tree so she can escape from the dog as needed.
