First of all, Bentley is way too young for a bath (unless he has gotten into something nasty). It is a good idea to bathe him twice a year, just as the hair starts to clump. As for the equipment: I had a Samoyed for years, and also Siberians--another double-coated breed. Your best bet is to use a rake (made for dogs, not your lawn rake!). Aside from a general going-over to get the loose hair out, the best method for grooming Bentley is to pick up a section of hair., as if you were going to tease it. Do nothing with the section except hold it. Rake what's left underneath (the undercoat). If Bentley's hair is really clumping, you can grab a handful yourself. You might want to use the metal comb to get the hair around his face, but it's not really necessary--nor are all the other products you bought. You can train him to the rake by initially just showing it to him with a treat. Just run the rake gently over his coat and treat/praise when he leaves it alone.

For days where it is very hot, you do want to avoid taking your dog for a walk at the hottest parts of the day (mid-day) especially on paved areas as your dog's feet can get burned. They do sell dog booties that you can put on your dog's feet to help protect them. If she has no skin/coat issues, just a gentle oatmeal shampoo is fine for bathing when needed. Most dogs do not need frequent bathing unless they are getting very dirty and bathing too often can dry their skin out. I wouldn't bathe more than every other week unless needed. My dog has severe anxiety. What is some good products I can use to help during fireworks or grooming?
Poor Hachiko! Fireworks and loud noises can be really scary for dogs. One important thing to do to when your dog acts scared is not to reassure him. We think we are comforting him when we do that, but it's actually reinforcing the behavior and telling him it's ok to be scared. I recommend getting him a thundershirt to wear when there are fireworks or loud noises. These have been reported to help dogs with anxiety. At home, you can put him in a dark quiet room by himself to self-soothe. You can also turn on the TV or music to block out the sound. Finally, you can consider get a pheromone diffuser called DAP that helps dogs with anxiety. This pheromone diffuser can help with grooming him. I hope this helps!

Nikki is adorable! Thanks for including pictures! Yes, PetSmile is expensive, but it is one of the only toothpastes to actually be approved by the Veterinary Oral Health Council. (Last year they ran a 25% off sale before Christmas, so I stocked up!) Yes, it is fine to use Dawn on Nikki's feet daily, but I suspect any gentle cleaner would be fine as well. You may have to experiment to find the best shampoo for her. If he is extremely aggressive while being groomed, you may want to consider having him sedated and groomed at your vet's office. This will mean that Marley is closely monitored during the sedation and supported with fluids and heat if necessary. Your vet can also perform a thorough exam, and ensure that Marley's heart and lungs are healthy enough to handle the sedation. At home, you can try calming chews available in most pet stores, and consider getting Marley a muzzle to keep yourself safe.
