Cichlids

My pet pike cichlid is not eating and is always staying in one corner of the tank. It is in a 20 gallon with 2 convict cichlids, 2 firemouth cichlids, 1 Oscar, and two plecos. My ammonia is 0, nitrate 0 and ph is 6.5. Water is a little tinted because of the driftwood.

Currenly i have two African Cichlids, specifically tigar oscar cichlids. They are in a large tank, about 75 gallons, with a algae eating plako. They are about 5 to 6 inches long. Im curious to know if i could move my African sideneck turtle into the tank with them. She is young. But ive noticed tha she doesnt swim extremely well so i think it might be a bad idea. Thoughts?

Hey! I got 2 blood parrot cichlids from the pet store yesterday I have them in a 45 gallon and plan on getting a few electric cichlids today. But my blood parrots are completely terrified of me. I can’t turn on my own light without them getting spooked, I have many rocks, and plants for them to hide behind. I also did what tests and they came out normal. I would be okay with them not liking me but they won’t even eat should I wait a few days for them to lighten up? Or is there something I can do

I've been fighting for a year to get swim bladder under control for 5 of my cichlids fish I've tried antibiotics in food forum and I. The water medication not all at once and nothing seems to be working what else can I do to help them

I have bought 2 parrot cichlids about 20 days ago. One of the parrot fish is constantly hiding behind the filter. Eating well but when it comes out to swim the other parrot fish keeps pinching it and doesn't allow to it to move around in the tank. I don't understand the problem. Please suggest what to do. Also the color of the fish is bit dull as compared to other one.

Hi! I was thinking about getting blood red parrot cichlids. And I thought here would be a good place to ask about them. So I was wondering what size tank I should use, how many I should get for starters, how much decoration and plants you would recommend, and some good food brands as well as foods I should feed them. I have three medium sized cichlids, Aswad, Asfar, and Jameela and two budgies, Sky and Coco. We have to go on a holiday. It may take 2-3 months. Should we give them to our friends? But they don't know a lot about the pets though we could teach them. Another option is to take them with us but the journey is long. It takes about 12 hours altogether. We could also leave them with the pet shops from which we bought them. What do you suggest we should do?

Sorry! In my last question regarding the hatching living with Oscar, Oscar is a turtle not a fish, that’s his name, although I do have a cichlids tank but that’s different:). So would a hatching be able to live with a 5 ish inch turtle red eared slider? Male, loves to eat live feeder goldfish (small) and snails. There are two basking docks. Should I get a yearling instead that could live with him? There are two basking areas. can all slider turtle breeds live together?

I have a few problems in my cichlids tank currently. 1. There are these tiny white gnat like flying bugs coming out of the water? 2. Brown algae on the glass won’t go away! But I have snails and an eel so I don’t know what to use that won’t kill them 3. my tiger Oscar likes to lay at the bottom? All the fish seem to be breathing heavy but ph and ammonia are normal 4. Live plants have some sort of dark brown slime on their leaves won’t go away 5.dempsey ‘shivers’ or twitches recently

Hello! Things didn’t go so well with cichlids and I only have one remaining which I moved to a different tank. The 45 is now empty and the others besides one blue African cichlid has died. I did water tests and most came out fine except the Carbonate hardness which was at a 40. (That’s bad as far as I know if you could clarify that would be great) but I have a goldfish that would do great in there but I’m very attached and I don’t want anything to happen to him as well any idea of what I can do?

One of my parrot cichlid has developed black eye which I don't seem to understand as to what is it exactly. Eye is swollen and a bit out of its socket. Previously it was white but now changing to black color. Due to this fish is hiding continuously and other fishes are pinching it.

i also have a female cichlid that her color is faded she looks sick but is eating fine and swimming fine she is breathing a bit heavy the heat is at 85 not sure if the digitli heat is accurate or not
