Description

The Blue Polar Parrot Cichlid is actually a hybrid of two different species of cichlids, which has left them with some unique physical traits. They have a round "balloon" shaped body with a small mouth and a blue pattern. They actually have teeth that are farther back within their mouths, which allows the Parrot Cichlid to break down meaty foods. Even though these are Cichlids, the Parrot should not be kept with overly aggressive tanks mates because they will easily be out competed for food. Provide an environment with plenty of hiding places for this Cichlid to set up their own territory. Be aware that these cichlids will dig into the substrate to create caves and therefore aquatic plants do not tend to cope very well with such behavior. They will readily accept a large variety of food including pellets and flakes.
