Hi, thank you for using Boop by Petco! From your post, I gather you are wondering what other testing and/or therapies are appropriate to maximize Finley's life span and quality of life. For testing, I would be interested in his urine specific gravity, a urine protein:creatinine ratio, leptospirosis titers (unless vaccinated for lepto), tick titers, and abdominal ultrasound. I would also be interested in more of his medical history. This would be a good case for a consult if you are interested, and I am available through this system. Things that tend to help are Increasing Finley's water intake, putting him on a diet lower in protein (typically prescription), keeping him on medications that prevent gastroduodenal ulceration, and some supplements help. Cranberry extract-based supplements are a neutraceutical class of supplement meaning they are not regulated by the FDA and do not have a lot of research behind them.
