The Blood parrot is a hybrid species created from breeding different Central American Cichlid species and thus shares many of the care needs of other Central American Cichlids.

Feed a variety of flakes, pellets, freeze-dried bloodworms and frozen food. Feed sparingly and no more than fish can eat in 1 to 2 minutes. Allow the sealed bag with your new fish to float in your aquarium for at least 15 minutes, but no longer than one hour, and ensure the water in the bag is the same temperature as the water in your tank.
