The Yellow Tiger Shortbody Parrot Cichlid are known for their distinct shorter body appearance and are characterized by a beak-like mouth, round body, and bright colors. Parrot cichlids are a hybrid fish, created by breeding different cichlid species. Their yellow and black colorations are an oddball color variant that is achieved through thousands of selective breeding of Red Parrot Cichlids. Provide a spacious tank with plenty of hiding spots, rocks, and decorations. Parrot cichlids may rearrange the substrate, so choose sturdy decorations. Even though these are cichlids, the Parrot should not be kept with overly aggressive tanks mates because they will easily be out competed for food. Provide an environment with plenty of hiding places for this cichlid to set up their own territory. They will readily accept a large variety of food including pellets and flakes.
