Get It Today
Keeping your pet cozy and warm in the cooler months may be a breeze when you get them a soft and comfortable puppy sweater. Petco offers a selection of cute sweaters for dogs and other dog and puppy supplies, whether your pup is a tiny teacup or extra-large breed.
The ideal time for your pup to wear a sweater is most likely when they need some extra warmth. Bigger pets can wear large dog sweaters, but they are sometimes less likely to need thick sweaters in colder temperatures, especially if they have a lot of fur. But toy or smaller breeds, older dogs and pups with thin coats may be more comfortable wearing sweaters for dogs than going without.
Some pups enjoy the comfort of dog sweaters and may feel great wearing them around the house. If your dog isn’t used to wearing clothing, make sure to reward them for accepting the sweaters and provide plenty of positive reinforcement.
Getting your pup the proper size in their sweater will often require taking some simple measurements. Most sweaters for dogs are sized by measuring your pet’s back length and chest girth. To find your dog’s back length, simply measure from the base of their neck to the base of their tail. For chest girth, measure around their ribcage just behind their front legs. It can also be helpful to know your dog’s weight to help make sure you’re getting the right size sweater.
Your pet’s sweater should be fitted but not tight or constricting in any area. Your pup should be able to move freely without anything dragging or hanging. If your pet seems distressed or uncomfortable, remove the dog sweater right away.
In general, a sweater for dogs is most often used when they need warmth. To help calm your pet, neighborhood Petco Pet Care Center dog anxiety vests may sometimes be a better option. These vests are designed to be snug in a way that might help soothe your pet.
If your big dog needs an extra cozy addition to their wardrobe, shop for dog sweaters for large dogs online or at your neighborhood Petco Pet Care Center.

Ok so I have an issue. Its getting cold here and we are looking at some very heavy snow this year. All three of our dogs are rather thin coated. The older two refuse to potty outside if its too cold. Would sweaters help? Also the youngest is less than two pounds (tiny chihuahua mix) and even though he's not allowed outside yet we like 2 to 4 inches above our floor tend to get cold no matter what temperature we keep the house at how can I help him stay warm?
Why does my dog hate wearing sweaters? The others are always good, hazel has a water jacket and I put it on her when its really cold or raining and she always stays still like a statue and then she will rub against the wall, plants, or a couch, the jacket fits her perfectly and she can pee and poop with no issue (asking since summer is all most over ) thank you!
I have a Basset Hound. Do dogs need coats in the winter?
Hes a skinny dog all year from gerd but hes recovering from kidney issues so hes emaciated from starving himself for 3 weeks (he went to the vet for his kidney issues) im just asking since hes skin and bones with very short hair is the 50s and 60s too cold for him indoors we have no heater should we get him a sweater
I just bought my dog a fleece vest to wear in the winter because she shivers, and it seems to help calm her as well. Would it be ok to leave it on at night? It's not restrictive and she doesn't chew at it or try to take it off. She sleeps in a big wire crate next to my bed with her brother.
the floor is way to cold for even us humans here. and my puppie's paws were very cold. can i put on small woolen socks on his legs to keep his paws anx feet warm?
