Established in 1980, Oxbow Animal Health is a family-owned and operated small pet care company that believes quality of life begins with quality care. Their products are manufactured in Nebraska, and their hay is all grown in the USA. The Simple Rewards line of Oxbow small animal treats has a variety of flavors, like sweet snacks containing apples, bananas and strawberries, or more savory munchies that include dill and bell pepper. There are baked treats and delectable freeze-dried fruits. The baked treats all contain hay, which is a vital staple in many small animals’ diets.
The Oxbow Essentials line has feed for all sorts of small animals—like rabbits, rats, gerbils, guinea pigs and chinchillas. It contains the vitamins and minerals needed to give your small pets a well-rounded, wholesome meal. All Oxbow Essentials products include Timothy hay, which is known for its digestibility. The water bottles are designed to be dripless, and they also have chew-proof versions made of glass and metal if gnawing is a problem. The Oxbow Enriched Life food bowl can be great to hold either feed or water, and it’s designed not to tip over. The forage bowl helps them slow down while eating, and they can add some fun to food time while encouraging moderation by making the food a little more challenging to eat.
The Oxbow Pure Comfort litter is made of 100% pure, never-printed paper and comes in either white or tan for a soft and comfy bed for your critters to snuggle in or burrow into. It is purity tested and free of additives, and the bedding can trap up to 800% of its weight in moisture for excellent absorbency and odor control.
Oxbow Eco-Straw litter is made entirely of wheat straw and is naturally absorbent and dust-free. It clumps for easy disposal, and the pellets expand to hold 300% of its weight in moisture. It’s also consumable, so if your pet eats it, there’s no need to stress—it actually has a high fiber content. Along with small animals, they also have larger Eco-Straw pellets for large rabbits and cats.

Oxbow is a good quality company for diet but should not be used as a sole diet. Loose hay (timothy hay) should also be provided, free choice, to allow wear of teeth. Is the area moist, as in drooling? Dental disease is not uncommon in guinea pigs. Cheek teeth are difficult to examine at home but typically the animals with cheek teeth concerns are either drooling or having difficulty prehending/chewing food. Other things that can cause some hair loss under the chin is rubbing the chin on items (trying to stick his face through wire bars), bacterial or fungal skin infections or contact allergies. Have you recently changes bedding material? If the chin is moist (drooling), a veterinarian with experience with exotic companion mammals, should be able to help you.

I would be careful using products designed for other pets on your rabbit as they can become very easily injured. If you'd like Lennon and Waffle to go outside or have more room to run around, an X-pen or other playpen type structure can help to keep them contained while allowing them to stretch their legs and get some fresh air. As for groooming, daily brushing of longer haired breeds can help keep the coat shiny, remove excess hair, and help prevent mats.

A small amount of baby shampoo should be fine for a one time cleaning of your guinea pig. The water should be warm but not hot, like it would be for bathing a baby. You want to be sure that your guinea pig is dried thoroughly after the bath and is in an area that is not drafty as the big risk with bathing can be getting chilled afterwards when they are wet.

Bathing guinea pigs regularly is not recommended. If you "need" to bathe him, use a mild shampoo approved for small animals and be sure to dry him thoroughly afterwards. A pet wipe or plain, unscented baby wipe can be used to clean feet, bottom or ears as needed. The problem with feeding Jackjack fruit as a source of vitamin C is that they are high in sugar and may cause diarrhea or predispose him to obesity. Peppers, broccoli, cauliflower and peas are vegetables that are high in Vitamin C. He can get these several times a week. For convenience though, most pet parents use Vitamin C drops. He could adjust to another guinea pig, but you would need to introduce them to one another gradually and provide a much larger cage. Typically, male siblings can be raised and housed together with very little squabbling. An unrelated male may result in bullying or aggression and injury.

Thanks for reaching out about Stuart Little and including photos. A few things. First, the ectoparasites around the eyes appear to be stick-tight fleas and a once-a-,month topical medication called Revolution should work well. Your veterinarian should be able to prescribe even in lock down. Second, the lesion on the ear/face area needs to be shaved, gently cleaned with a warm wet washcloth and a mild soap. If continues to be crusty, a veterinarian is needed to assess and provide a diagnostic/treatment plan. Check inside of the ear for crusts, this could be ear mites and the cause of the facial mass. Revolution should treat this well also. Lastly, rabbits need to be spayed as they have a very high incidence of uterine cancer. Good luck.
