Lantus Solostar

My cat was recently diagnosed with diabetes and we're in the process of administering insulin twice a day and he is responding well - yay! My vet suggested we go with 3.5 units (using the Lantus Solostar pen) twice a day. However, the pen doesn't do half doses. Is it OK to give him 3 units in the evening, then 4 units in the morning until I get the syringes with half dose readings? I would ask my vet but it's now Saturday and he won't be back in the office until Tuesday. Thanks, Sarah

My cat became a diabetic, she's on 5 of Lantus daily. I have heard cats can become un- diabetic. Is this true, and how would I know? She has lost weight and is very healthy now.

My cat is 15yrs old, indoor cat, with diabetes and recently discovered ear mites. He is on .1 unit of Lantus in the morning and night. He was given Revolution last thursday and Klearotic to cleanse his ears for 3 days. He was given a bath 2 days ago and since midday yesterday has been acting lethargic, not eating, unbalanced, antisocial. Should i be worried or could it be a normal cold? I heard l-lysine amino acid vitamins could help and what would the proper dosage be for a cat whom weighs 10.3

My cat had been in remission for a couple of years but had to go back on insulin as of April 12th. We started at one unit of Lantus with no improvement in his readings. By May 22nd, we had increased him to 5 units. On May 26, his reading was 427, on June 4th it was 342. Last night, June 4th, I checked and his reading was 95 at 8:00pm. At 5:30 am this morning, he received 5 units again. Tonight, before his 5:30 pm injection, I checked his blood, it was 81. I skipped his next dose. Right or wrong?

The pharmacy have me Novolin 70/30 instead of Novolin N for my 12 year old lab. He takes 22 units. Can I still use this insulin ?

My dog, 24 lb schnauzer, was just diagnosed with Diabetes. Vet prescribed 6.5 insulin twice a day, original glucose level was 450. Vet sold us Vetsulin insulin and told us to not shake, only draw when clear. after a week blood was still 450, reading vetsulin website they say it is suspended and should be shaken. Vet has now prescribed 10 units twice a day, I am scared this is way too much. advice?

can I give my dog human insulin for diabetes

My 10 y/o Maltese was recently diagnosed with diabetes. I checked her urine with reagent test strip and glucose was +2 specific gravity was 1.040 and blood was +3. She gets 3 units of insulin BID

My 11 yo dog has diabetes secondary to pancreatitis. I have been giving the recommended dose of 17 u of Novalin N as prescribed but cannot get bld glu out of the 400-600 range. Just spent several days in ICU where they gave Reg ins. and glu decreased to a normal range, but will not prescribe for home. His reg. endoc vet has worked him up but will not give reg ins is unconcerned. Just had bil cataracts as he went blind from diabetes. Any suggestions. Running out of money an no help

11.5yr old samoyed, female has diabeties approx 4mths. give her 2 injections per day am & pm but her glucose levels are still very high. could you advise why this may be happening

My cat is diabetic, currently on 7 units so vetsulin 2x daily with a bs of 600+, my vet doesn't seem to know what else to do. Any suggestions?

my dog was diagnosed with diabetes 1 and needs insuline every 12 hrs after eating. this morning she is not eating. do i stop the insulin and what if she still doesn't eat tonight?
