How do I use
Is this fast acting or slow acting?
Is the pen still usable if it was left outside the fridge for a day?
how does insulin penetrates skin ther seems to be any needle tip ?
- You have to purchase screw-on pen needle tips and inject straight from the pen (do not use as syringe to extract the insulin from the pen as previous users have responded... what is the point of that?), then discard the needle tip in a sharps container.

If a lantus pen is accidentally put in a freezer for 2 days, is the medicine still good when it thaws out?
- According to the instruction s on the box, No. Â It should not be used if it has been frozen. Â It also should not be kept in the refrigerator after using it the first time and should be discarded after 28 days.

I would like to know if this is a correct advertisement....lantus slolstarU100 pen insulin... I have some experience in health care...to my knowledge this is a prefilled syringe used for diabetic human beings....I was I wonder ....is This a pet med????

My cat was recently diagnosed with diabetes and we're in the process of administering insulin twice a day and he is responding well - yay! My vet suggested we go with 3.5 units (using the Lantus Solostar pen) twice a day. However, the pen doesn't do half doses. Is it OK to give him 3 units in the evening, then 4 units in the morning until I get the syringes with half dose readings? I would ask my vet but it's now Saturday and he won't be back in the office until Tuesday. Thanks, Sarah
The pharmacy have me Novolin 70/30 instead of Novolin N for my 12 year old lab. He takes 22 units. Can I still use this insulin ?
My dog, 24 lb schnauzer, was just diagnosed with Diabetes. Vet prescribed 6.5 insulin twice a day, original glucose level was 450. Vet sold us Vetsulin insulin and told us to not shake, only draw when clear. after a week blood was still 450, reading vetsulin website they say it is suspended and should be shaken. Vet has now prescribed 10 units twice a day, I am scared this is way too much. advice?
He's recently been diagnosed diabetic, changed his food, and I've been giving him injections of insulin after he eats. (Twice a day) He has a Free Style Libre attached, and despite everything, his blood sugar is still way up in the 400's. Stripes has diabetes and has been prescribed 2 units of vetsulin twice a day. I gave him his first dose two units, but they sent us home with u-100 syringes instead of u-40! So I'm SURE I under dosed him, and he was supposed to get it between 9 and 10 (it's almost 1). What is the appropriate amount in that syringe?! Can an insulin dose of 3 units, twice per day cause a distended abdomen in a cat, as this is the case with my cat. He is not overweight. His abdomen is rounded and hard. He started insulin glargine 10 days ago. He is eating and has normal bowel and bladder movements. Please advise. Thank you

I have a diabetic dog. He has been on insulin for about 10 days. He has long hair, so it is difficult to make a tent of skin before the injection. I do not feel the injection is being done properly. I have had training at the vet, but when I do it at home I am not sure he is getting the medicine. Questions: 1. do I position the needle parallel to the body or at a 45 degree angle? 2. The needle is longer than the skin is deep. Do I push the needle all the way in? If not, how far? Thank you
