Health & WellbeingIs Advantix II o.k. to use for ticks on dogs? I am so afraid of giving them something that will hurt them but next to the woods here there tend to be alot of ticks and it scares me. I have considered the pet pills that are given by the vet...but ag
Hello. There are a lot of really good flea & tick products out there, & for everyone one of them, you can find an untrue horror story online. Advantix ll has been around for over 10 years & if there were significant problems with this, it would be long gone by now. The oral products Bravecto & Nexguard, are also very, very good. The problem with the orals is that a similar product called Simparica, was associated in a slight increase in tremors or seizures in some dogs. But this has really not been the case with either Bravecto or Nexguard. Tick disease can be very serious, costly & dangerous. You have to weigh the very small chance of a reaction associated with one of the flea/tick products with the real possibility of a serious tick borne disease. I would rather not have to deal with nasty ticks on my pets or in my home. I regularly use Bravecto on some of my pets & the Seresto collars on others & have been very happy.
