What are suitable diets for a dog, cat and a horse including water requirements?
Dog: A commercial diet food such as Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, or Iams. It's best to feed a dog a high quality commercial diet because it is extremely difficult to get the correct balance of nutrients a dog needs to be healthy. A dog should have as much water as they want, and it's best to have a source of fresh water available at all times. Cat: As with cats, a commercial diet is best. Cats are obligate carnivores, and they have to have specific levels of protein as well as essential amino acids in order to be healthy. Cats should never be fed a vegetarian diet as that is fatal to them. I'd recommend a high quality cat food such as Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, or Iams. You are very welcome. In dogs we don't see this issue so much with water intake. Cats are usually always problematic to get adequate water into their system. Therefore your dog can have either wet or dry based on preference of the pet and yourself. I feel that giving half dry and half wet to cats is certainly better than no wet at all. Plus I can certainly understand that this may be more a cost effective way to care for your pet. If you also implement the placement of water fountains in your home, then this has shown to encourage cats to drink more because it is considered a fresher water source. I honestly have never heard of the special bowls made just for spaniels. That is a great idea and as long as your pets drink from it, then I say mission accomplished! It is, after all, still just a water fountain. I can certainly understand not wanting to continue to use a fountain which gets a daily dip from your pets ears. Is it safe to give tap water to my cat? Is it better if I give her bottled water? I've been told thaf fluoride in tap water is harmful to cat and now worried.

Should I purchase a water fountain for my dog? She does drink on her own several times a day. But that sounds like a good idea. Does it really encourage them to drink more water? Is it easy to clean? I currently like to wash my dogs water bowl daily
I highly recommend purchasing a water fountain! I have one for my dogs and cats, and they love it. They are easy to clean, and have filters to help keep the water clean. Plus they hold lots of water, so you don't have to fill it up daily. There are many differing types of water fountains, and I will put a link below to a number of different ones.
