Questions
Can this be used under a guinea pig cage?
- The pad I bought only comes on when our cats step on it. But it only gives a moderate amount of heat , but yes I would think it would work for guineas if they’re cold.

Is it safe to use this heating pad on a carpeted floor?
- I do. And have for years with no problems. Both flat & shaggy carpets.

Can I use this inside?
- Yes. I have one each (one small, one medium) for my two senior indoor only cats. I lay a towel over the cover and it still provides enough warmth to comfort them.

I'd like to get this for outdoor strays but my outlet is in a weird spot. Is it safe to put in a storage bin and use an extension cord to plug it into?
- Hope this answers your questions. We have our “heating pads” in a dog igloo and the other in a dog crate. The manufacturer says no extension cords. We’ve never needed one. You could probably ask a friendly electrician.

I already called Greensburg Store and they do not have Medium Size 19x24 K&H Lectro Soft Outdoor Heated Pet Bed. Connor the person I talked with suggested asking if any other Petco Store has them.
- If you have a feed store by you they might have one. I ordered mine from Petco.com

Can I use an extension cord with this item or must it be plugged directly into the wall socket?
- Yes but be sure it is hidden from pet and in dry area. The cord attached to the heating area is wrapped in a wire covering to prevent from chewing. The cord is not a ground (3 prong) plug so I believe a heavy duty regular extension cord would work just fine. I would check it regularly to make sure it remains safe. It keeps pet comfortably warm but not too hot.

Can I keep it plugged in all night? How long can it be plugged in for safely?
- I have had both of mine plugged in for several months already this year without any issues. The heavy duty armored cords has handled everything the dogs can do to them. My first pad went thru the whole winter plugged in last year and is still working fine again this year.

My dog sometimes gets seizures and pees himself, will it get ruined if wet? Is there a way to wash it?
- I suggest asking the manufacturer but…. The pad comes with a fleece cover that is not waterproof. Instructions say not to cover the pad with anything except the fleece cover, which “breathes.” Pad has sensors to warm with pet’s weight. If a cover does not “ breathe,” then it could overheat and burn out. It’s also an electoral product. So it shouldn’t get wet. The pad material is a thick, tightly woven nylon fabric, so it can be cleaned with a damp cloth, but putting liquid on it is a bad idea. Please call K&H to ask. They are helpful and may have a suggestion or solution for you. Good luck. The cat loves the pad!

can this be put on top of dog bed
- From the enclosed instructions: Place pad directly on a hard, flat surface in the home or inside a dog house or kennel. Area chosen should be sheltered out of direct rain or snow. Do not cover the pad with blankets or materials other than a fleece K&H lectro cover (included). If the pad is used in an enclosure, be sure your pet has the option of getting off the pad (i.e., half of the enclosure should be pad free). There are more instructions.

Can I use a heavy duty outdoor extension cord with the lectro-soft outdoor heated pad? I'm having trouble with the cord not reaching the electrical outlet outside the house where I want to plug it in.
- MET requires that all manufacturers put the extension cord statement “Do not use with extension cord” on every item that is MET listed by UL 499 standards. This is because they cannot test every extension cord on the market in conjunction with our products for safety. Also, MET suggests that an extension cord is not recommended as a permanent fixture and should only be a temporary solution when using any electrical product. For more information on MET safety testing, please visit their website at www.metlabs.com.
