This stuff really works! My dog chews on blankets, the sofa, her dog bed, so I got this and I spray it on these items, and my dog walks away, doesn’t bother them!!! This solved my problem!

Yes, I recommend this product.

It really works!

I bought this for my new 3 month old puppy. Puppies chew on everything. That’s what they do. This Bitter Apple spray works for my dog. She smelled of it, shook her head, and backed up. She hasn’t chewed on the things I sprayed with it. Very happy.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Worked for my rabbit, but had a few kinks…

I bought this spray for my rabbit because she chews on her hutch. I drenched it in this spray and she stopped chewing for a day or two. So I would say that although it works, you would need to re spray every other day or so to make it work. Also, I know that this product is meant for dogs so it makes sense that the spray is a less effective for rabbits.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Didn't Phase My Puppy

1 Little Pup

My papillon puppy chewed his leash almost in half. I bought this product, Bitter Apple, drenched a leash in it. It didn't phase him, apparently he didn't mind the taste. I do want to say that Petco was very good about the transaction, telling me when I bought it, they would be happy to take it back, which they very graciously did when I returned it saying it hadn't worked for me. Apparently some dogs hate the taste, but not my little guy.

No, I do not recommend this product.

It did not deter my puppy's chewing at all. I would recommend finding another answer to the chewing problem.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I've been using this for over 15 years

I've been using this for years and I love it, perfect for puppies. It works great but it depends on how determined your dog is. When I had a problem with an older dog chewing years back, the taste didn't bother him all that much at first. Then, I just added in a pinch or two of black pepper. Worked together like a charm together for more stubborn dogs!!!!!!!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Does this spray attract like insects or ants?

  1. I have not had insects attracted when I have used is. However, I have only used is indoors.

Is this safe to spray on a cat's skin? It's a former hot spot that has healed but he still wants to lick it a bit.

can i put it on my hand so my dog stop biting me

    1. I do not think that would be effective and it may be absorbed by your skin and cause discomfort and/or some other complication (s).

Can I spray it directly on my plants?

How do I keep my 10 month old schnauzer from breaking off small and large pieces of my outdoor plants? Even the thorny bougainvillea plants don’t stop her! She has a large variety of toys and chews but continues this behavior.

Can I spray this onto my carpet and onto my wood floors? I have an 11 year old king Charles cavalier who won't stop licking the carpet and the wooden floors. I am thinking of buying some of this spray to use. Is this a good spray to use?

How long does it last once it’s sprayed? How often do I have to re-spray?

          1. It lasts about a day. When our dog was a puppy, we sprayed the same spots everyday for about a week to establish them as unpleasant experiences. If she started chewing some places again, we’d spray it once more. If you can act consistently, the dog eventually associates those spots with a yucky taste and will leave them alone. Our dog stopped chewing things at around 9 months.

can is spray it into dogs mouth

          1. No. Why would you want to, anyhow? It’s akin to spraying chili juice into your own mouth- cruel and unusual.

Is this safe to spray on live plants.  My dog loves to chew on sticks and is now chewing up my outside bushes.

My dog is a jumper when company comes over. Will this bitter apple spray act as deterrent to calm or cure his jumping on my guests, and if so, how do I use it?

            1. Calming spray suggested by someone else is not the answer. It won't work Jumping is a behavioral issue that requires proper training. You should immediately take your pup to a good dog trainer. Your dog is too big to jump on people without risking serious injury to your visitors, particularly children.
