The quietest tank I’ve ever owned

Atouch89

If you don’t want to spend a ton of time doing maintenance, Fluval filters are the absolute best. They are worth the extra money. I have this tank in my office and it is absolutely silent. I love it, beautiful too with so many color options for lights. I keep mine on the color rotate option and it is quite the display. Highly recommend

Yes, I recommend this product.

Fluval flex 15

I really like this tank and the internal filtration. I really like the curved look to the tank and how quiet it is. The lights do well for the plants I have. My biggest gripe is the price point. It would be a lot cheaper to piece together a 15g tank. I feel it should come with a heater for the price. Also the pump is very strong and needs to be baffled for most fish. Overall I i like the look and function. Makes a great office tank but probably wouldnt buy it again.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Good Choice

Smart design with the filtration, heater, and bubbler in the back. It more easily becomes a showcase aquarium as a result. The bowed front shape is also visibly striking. The 15 gallon Flex tank is a good choice with limited space.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Pros: -Very modern design, nice kit. -Pump is nearly silent (with the lid off) Cons: -Lid rattles with lid of.. I adjust it so its quieter, and a few hrs later its loud again. -Pumps power is not adjustable. -Lighting remote is crazy inconsistent.

Yes, I recommend this product.

A Few Flaws

I love Fluval tanks because they are so well-made, but this tank has a few flaws for specific fish and invertebrates. Firstly, the filter pump that comes with this tank is far too strong for many fish and invertebrates (I have bettas, guppies, and shrimp) and does not have the option to weaken the flow, so I had to swap it with a smaller pump. Secondly, the filter intake slots are large enough for small fish and invertebrates to fit through, allowing them access to the back filtration compartment, where they can become trapped.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I really love the Fluval Flex

The Flex 15 is probably my favorite tank of the 6 I own. I always end up dismantling the all in one kits, but not this one! This tank offers a ton of room for additional filter media (I added additional sponge and bio rings), and the light is great for growing lower light live plants-pretty much 80% of the widely available plants in the market. I did add an after market submersible light to mine and a timer/dimmer for the included lighting system. I gave this a four rating because the pump cannot be adjusted and the flow rate is really too strong for large-finned fish like bettas. I currently only house dwarf emerald danios and Amano shrimp, but I still needed to slow the flow. In addition to the extra sponge in the filter compartment, I added sponges to the outflow and it did the trick. It’s an easy fix, but Fluval really missed an opportunity to provide an adjustable flow pump. I completely recommend this tank. It was packed securely and delivered quickly. I really want the 34 gallon now!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Top cover/lid/lighting unit was warped and did not fit tightly or correctly. Waiting for customer service to resolve this issue.

Great, but low flow

APNelson

I love this set up. It's great if you want all in one. The pump seems a little weak, not a ton of flow but that's easily remedied. It's super nice looking and the light is decent for low light plants.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Is this tank worth it.

    1. I would buy it again.

Does this tank have a timer for the light or can it be attached to one?

    1. The lights are controlled by a remote.  I just turned the white lights on, unplugged it, then plugged it back in and the lights automatically came back on. Same with the colored lights. I believe  you could plug this into a timer instead of the wall outlet and it would work.

Is the 15 gallons including back porting that is closed off?

    1. Yes it includes the sump filter (back), which accounts for around 2-4 gallons. At the standard inch of fish per gallon, it is certainly not roomy enough for 15 inches of fish. It's an awesome tank, but it has less living space than a normal 15 gallon. If I didn't need to upgrade to a bigger tank, I would still be using the fluval.

My sister bought me this tank for my gold fish (one fish) I just want to know is the bio rings / carbon bag safe for my fish? it seems like a lot for one fish and I don't want to put her in if it not safe for her.

    1. Both are completely safe and actually the bio rings are a necessity as they are a breeding ground for the beneficial bacteria that will eat the ammonia in your tank and keep it safe for your fish. Goldfish are notoriously dirty fish (they poop a LOT) and so the more filter media (sponges, bio rings etc)  you have the better. Having said all that your goldfish is going to get large (upto 12 inches and sometimes more!) and will quickly outgrow this tank. The recommended minimum tank size for one goldfish is 20 gallons. I had 3 in a 29 gallon and had to upgrade to a 60 gallon as my fish had gotten so big! One had grown to at least 10 inches long in less than 2 years.   I personally don’t use carbon as I have plants in my tank. Also make sure the tank is cycled properly before you put your fish in. There are lots of videos on YouTube about cycling and the nitrogen cycle. Sorry for the long post. I am somewhat passionate about goldfish!

Can a heater fit in the back compartment?

    1. Yes

Does this one come with pf2

    1. No, A fluval PF2 programmable feeder would add about $50 to the price, so if you want one you would need to order it separately. One problem you may encounter is that the Fluval Flex 15 has a rather small rectangular feeding hole on the hood, and this would result in some of the food missing the feeding hole unless you modify the hood.

    How many gallons is this?

    1. It's about 15 gallons of water only if you have no decorations or substrate. Otherwise, it will be less. Your decorations and substrate and pump and filter parts will displace some. (Perhaps a gallon or two if you just use some plants and a little substrate but perhaps 5 gallons or so if you use large rocks or wood to landscape.) On average about 3 gallons or so will be setting hidden in the filter or taken up by its parts at any given time. Then the fish you choose will also displace water (although probably very little as this tank can just keep a few small fish).

Will an 11lb bag of gravel be enough for this tank. Want at least 2" thick. I've heard this tank is really only 11 gallon after deduction the filter area.

    1. I would recommend about 15 pounds of gravel. Avoid the ones that are epoxy coated. If you plan to have live plants then make sure to use a quality substrate such as Fluval Stratum, or Seachem Flourite.

    what is the gallon capacity

    1. Says 15 but someone wrote that it’s only about 10 after filter water concealment?
