I love the gate and it is perfect for our needs. We need to block off an area that doesn't have walls on either side to use a traditional style dog gate. Only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is because our Yorkie puppy can fit between the slats! Once she grows a bit bigger, it shouldn't be a problem.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I have 3 of them. I use them to make an open crate by putting 2 or 3 of them together in the corner of a room or next to a single wall. I use one in the hallway. Love the fact that has leg so you can make create any shape of open crate! and you can move them anywhere. I do have a small old dog so she does not have the strength to move them, besides I lock them together

No, I do not recommend this product.

I ordered 2 of these. the height is great, but if you accidentally knock it over it cracks because it is so poorly made. I'm very disappointed, i have to throw these out and buy new ones. waste of money!

No, I do not recommend this product.

I got this gate again (already have 2) because another area of my house needs to be blocked off from my Yorkie now. This gate, and the 2 previous ones are just great. They look good, my dog can't get over them, and they're easy to move around because they have their own "feet" and don't depend on any kind of wall connection. Every so often I need to tighten the screws that hold the "feet" onto the gate because, when I move the gate, the "feet" will make a full turn and after a while they will need tightening. No biggie.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Perfect Gate!!

I have an elderly 30 # blind dog. We do not want her going into a specific room. I wanted a free standing gate, and my opening is wider than a regular door frame. This gate is not sturdy enough for a dog who is determined to get thru - but if the dog will accept a barrier, as mine does, it is just perfect. Low height so you can step over it, we can move it for some other use if we want, it has an oak finish and is very pleasant looking. And my cat knows how to get around it - which is good as we are only concerned about the one dog. It is also adjustable, which we did a couple of times trying to come up with what worked best. It's almost like this gate was custom made for us!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Nice gate & extension-wrong hardware!

We purchased this 20" gate and and extension for our three small chihuahua's for our new home. The gate was delivered first. The hardware that came with the gate was correct. A couple of days later the extension was delivered, the hardware that was provided for the extension is too long as well as too small!!! I had to make a trip to the local hardware store to buy the correct hardware!!! I would rather Drs Foster & Smith provide the exact hardware that was supposed to be included for us!!!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

How do the feet attach? Are they easy to remove? Looking to slide this out of the way and with the feet attached it won't fit in the space

How wide is each extension? Would it be too wobbly for a 94" wide opening?

    1. You will need two of them for a 94 inch gap. That's what I'm using for the same size gap. They can be move easily, so I need to add dumbbell weights on the feet which works fine to keep them in place and from being pushed over.

I need to fit a space that is 86 inches wide. How many extensions do I need?

    1. You will need two of them. You'll have plenty of adjustment to make them fit. I'm using two of them for a 94 inch gap. May need weights to keep them from being moved by the dog. Small puppy cannot jump over, but medium size dog can easily jump over it. Needed to use longer screws than what came with it to anchor the feet. But that's an easy fix.

The description says this gate is for openings up to 51 3/4". My opening is 53", would this gate work without an extension?

    1. You'll probably have a 1 1/2 or 2 inch gap. May be OK unless this encourages the dog to try to push through the gap. May need weights on the feet to hold them in place. Other than that, I like them. Medium size dog can jump over them easily. My puppy can't jump over yet, but probably will be able too when full grown. Since she will be potty trained by then, it won't be a problem.

Does the stepover gate come in a higher gate?

    1. I dont think this is a high fence. I bought it because it fits the space and is as beautiful as a piece of furniture. It is easy to remove, and that was another attractive feaure. My cats do jump over it ( I knew they would), but it does confine the space and provides an additional layer of protection.

What is the distance between the vertical bars in inches?

    1. The bar spacing on the Step Over Gate measures 2.25 inches wide.

What is the height and width of this gate?

    1. The height is 20 inches. The width is adjustable from 28 to 51 3/4 inches. An unlimited number of width extensions can be added to this gate, each is sold separately.

We need a gate for two entrances to our living & dining room to keep pets out of this area.

    1. Hello! Thanks foro your question. The Cardinal Gates Natural Wood Step Over Gate will span both of these distances. The gate itself has an adjustable width from 28" to 51.75". You will need to purchase Step Over Gate Extensions (Search #1309820 on PETCO.com) to span this space. Each extension is sold separately. Each extension adds 22" of width to the gate. Extensions are fixed-width. First, the 7.5' space = 90". Set the gate to 46" wide then add 2 extensions (22" each) for a total of 90" in width. Second, the 8.5' space = 102". Set the gate to 36" wide then add 3 extensions (22" each) for a total of 102". There is no limit to the number of extensions that may be added to the Step Over Gate! *HINT:* Add extensions to the side of the gate with 2 holes on the end. The slotted/gate portion always stays together. The extensions just get added to the gate. The uploaded photo shows a white Step Over Gate + 2 extensions. Both extensions are on the right of the gate (seen left). Enjoy your Step Over Gate!
