I would strongly recommend a veterinary visit for Duke. It sounds like he may have a bit of flea allergy dermatitis or a hotspot from the fleas as well as fleas. There are some great newer generations Flea and tick medications but they are prescription only; either oral or topical. Being a lab, if he is in the water a lotThe topical treatments are not likely to be as effective. Someone of the oral medications such as nex guard or bravecto or comfortis may be ideal for Duke. And from your description he may need some systemic antibiotics or steroids to help clear up his infection. Good luck I hope Duke get some relief soon and thank you for using Boop by Petco.

There is also an organization called Red Rover that give grants for treatment of sick animals, and you can see if you qualify for one of their grants. Best Friends also has a list of resources that offer financial assistance on their website. http://www.humanesociety.org/animals/resources/tips/trouble_affording_pet.html?credit=web_id91754962 https://www.redrover.org https://www.carecredit.com http://bestfriends.org/resources/financial-aid-pets http://lessonsfromaparalyzeddog.com/when-pet-owners-cant-afford-veterinary-bills/ http://www.dogheirs.com/resources-affordable-veterinary-care/ Check out these resources to see if one can help you.
