Increase the temp, gradually, to 86 F and hold it there for at least two weeks. This will speed up the ich lifecycle. When the parasite is free swimming is when it is most susceptible to treatment. Once the spots drop off your fish, perform a major water change and vacuum the substrate thoroughly. If you have live plants, remove them and gently wipe them down, if you have artificial plants, remove them and sanitize them. The same goes for any tank furniture. Use the ich medication according to label directions. Keep the water temp elevated for 3-5 days after treatment and after all symptoms have resolved. Gradually reduce water temp back to normal afterwards. There is no definitive way to determine if the infection is resolved. You will to monitor the fish closely and repeat the process if necessary.

This is due to a parasite (protozoan) infection. It can only be attacked by medications at a very specific point in their life cycle. Medication can work during what is called the "free phase," when the parasite is multiplying. Anti-parasitics medicine should be of the antibiotic type, specifically for anaerobes. Ask your local veterinarian or pet store for a prescription. Confirm the dose for this and other medications with your veterinarian or an experienced herp veterinarian prior to administration. Shaka should not be fed where there is feces present. Continue to feed him in a separate tank if that is how he has been fed. Clean and sanitize the tank and tank furniture. Remove droppings as soon as possible to prevent reinfection.

Sorry for the problems. Intestinal parasitism can affect small fish. Please check water quality to ensure ammonia, pH, nitrates and nitrites are appropriate. Taking a fish to a veterinarian for identification of the parasite can lead to a treatment plan for the adults. Sometimes invertebrates (snails) are intermediate host for the parasites, and removing them can reduce the problem. Good luck.

Even though a picture of it would help to determine the nature of this wound more specifically and give you specific advices on how to give appropriate treatment. Generally speaking you can follow these guidelines: - set up quarantine tank: make sure the tank is well oxygenation and has some plants for hiding; - add 1 teaspoon of aquarium salt per gallon; - add this product https://www.liveaquaria.com/product/4410/?pcatid=4410 as indicated; - leave your fish there and feed him regularly for 3-4 days until you don't see any improvement - If no results at all are seen after 4 days a check up would be needed.
