I am getting a cockatiel today. She is a year old. She has been fed a seed only diet her whole life. How do I get my cockatiel to convert to more of a pellet diet? I'm worried that it may be even more difficult for me since she won't be used to me. I
First of all don't do it right away, wait at least a couple months and let her settle in her new place. then you can start to gradually switch her to pellets. you should do it within about 10 days. first day start with 10% pellets and 90% seeds, second day 20% pellets and so on until it's only pellets.

Thanks for reaching out about your cockatiel. There are concerns over sand perches as the abrasiveness can lead to minor dermal trauma, and then possible infection if standing on a perch with feces. Not recommended. Good luck.

My single female cockatiel has laid two eggs in two days. Should I remove them or leave them? And for how long? Does she need dietary supplements? Thank you
Leave them in the cage/nest. If you remove them, she will keep laying. Leave them until she loses interest which could be in 2-3 weeks. Provide a commercial pelleted diet supplemented with a fortified seed mix. Provide a cuttlebone or mineral block as well. She will lay anywhere from 2 to 8 eggs total and there will likely be one day separating each egg.

I have a 5 months old cockatiel named cheeko. Some time when he is in his cage, he starts whistling and whistling and running in the cage suddenly and searching for a exit door. After opening the door he gets out of the cage and starts running on car
It sounds like Cheeko may just be excited and enjoys getting out and exploring. Singing and chirping can be signs that he's enjoying his time. Offering some fun toys to play with and safe things to explore may help encourage this behavior. As for things to give when he does something you like, a favorite treat such as a piece of fruit (apple or strawberry slices are always favorites, or even a piece of lettuce or spinach!) can reward him. You can also find many commercial bird treats at your local pet store that are safe to give.
