Many dogs can be trained to run on a tread mill! This is commonly used for dogs who live in cold climates or have owners who are not able to tolerate cold weather. If Nyssa likes to play tug of war, purchase a tug toy and set aside 20 minutes a day to play with her. This is a good, dry/warm indoor activity! Many dogs don't mind playing ball in the snow or snow shoeing even! As long as conditions are safe and not icy, a good walk/jog or bike ride can be accomplished even in cold weather. Some people even ski with their dogs! If there is snow or rough terrain, she may need protection for her paws. Many cities now offer pools for dog swimming which can certainly tire them out. Kong toys are my favorite. You can pack them with treats, freeze chicken broth inside of them, and they are almost indestructible. Also switching toys often so they don’t “get bored” with what is available to them.

If you are going to go outside and it is very cold out, or if you will be going for long walks or on colder surfaces (not snow but ice or cold pavement) then booties are a good idea as they can get frostbite and wounds from cold on their feet. Yes you can giver her treats, preferably soft ones, there are many many options in pet shops, just take a look at the ingredients before you buy them, make sure they are made mainly from good quality meat.

You could try to give her a Kong filled with treats or other types of toys that that dispense treats when playing with. You can even freeze the Kong with a peanut butter/ treat mixture so it takes longer for the dog to eat.
