Rain rot is a skin disease caused by the bacterium Dermatophilus congolensis. If a dog suffers from rain rot, it will have hair that sticks together like the hair of a paint brush and when you pull it it comes out and leaves a bleeding round skin lesion. These lesions often are crusty and can confluence, ie cause bigger lesions. The dog on the photo does not look like it has rain rot. Keep brushing the hair which should minimize the itch caused by the shedding of fur now in spring.

Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. I would recommend using the below following products, which can be found online or at your local PetCo. These can take time to work so I would give it about 2-3 months before you see improvement. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further. Please remember to rate this answer as helpful or not. Thank you! 1. Thanks for using Boop by Petco! I'm sorry to hear Benelly is having fur issues. What you are describing can be due to a variety of reasons, including a skin infection (from getting so wet), mats or tangles in the fur, or another underlying issue. I would recommend having him evaluated by his regular veterinarian to determine if there is an underlying skin infection, as well as to have the areas shaved to remove any mats or debris. Good luck!

HI, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Dogs minimally sweat from their paws. If Mike's paws were wet then it could be from licking them or his living conditions are too wet. I would be sure he has shelter outside from the rain. It should have a roof and a floor slightly elevated off the ground and be dry. Check his feet daily for infection. Mike is likely howling because he is lonely outside, since he can not come in be sure he gets plenty of attention and exercise. Long walks twice daily and play time outside with you. Teach him basic obedience so when he starts to howl you can instruct him to go lay down in his dog house. I hope this helps! I wish you and Mike the very best!

This sounds like normal shedding. I would not be worried unless there are bald spots where all the hair is missing. There is nothing available to stop shedding as it is a normal process. You don't want to stop it completely but you can give supplements to make the hair healthier and shiny. This supplement has vitamins for both the hair and ones to help his joints.
