Because fleas are so problematic, flea prevention is essential! Commonly prescribed preventives include oral and topical medications—although injectable flea prevention is available, as well.

Yes, there are topicals you can use: Profender and Revolution are two that come to mind straight away. ( https://www.allivet.com/p-3497-profender-for-cats.aspx ) ( https://www.allivet.com/p-1902-revolution-for-cats.aspx )

Advocate does not treat for these specific type of worms- tapeworms. And tapeworms come from your pet either ingesting an infected flea or eating another pets poop that has tapeworms in it. You can give the profender a minimum of 2 after giving another topical flea preventative, since it is an intestinal worm treatment only. So if it has been at least 2 full days now, you can go ahead and apply the Profender and its best to keep Morph on Advocate monthly to prevent re-infection. I hope that you resolve your flea problem soon! Best wishes and take care. : )

I have never seen this as a side effect of the Profender but it is safe for cats to lick, as this has been tested by the company and is a common issue. If these symptoms continue, I'd be concerned she is having a seizure or some other issue, or an atypical allergic reaction to the medication, and consider taking her in for an exam.

If you are finding any worms on Coco's hind end, now is the time to treat! Some of the more common worms that are found include roundworms (which resemble spaghetti) and tapeworms (which resemble grains of rice). Prescription dewormers, such as Drontal Plus or Profender, tend to work best for both of these parasites in my experience. There are many other over the counter dewormers that can treat roundworms well, but few that are successful for treating tapeworms. Call your vet if you are concerned about tapeworms to better discuss deworming options.

That’s a tough one. There isn’t a good way to know for sure. However if you call the help number on the back of the package you can ask them if it would be ok to reapply earlier than the 30 day time frame. Some topical products can safely be reapplied once every 2 weeks in cases like this where you want to ensure you have continuous protection. I hope this helps and best wishes with your pet Buddy. Take care.
