Have Pika examined by your veterinarian. Her anal glands may need to be expressed (emptied) on a regular basis. If there is infection or inflammation, your veterinarian can prescribe or dispense the appropriate medication. He or she can also show you how to express the glands yourself...if you're up to the task. Adding in some additional fiber to Pika's diet may aid in natural anal gland expression when she defecates. Plain canned pumpkin (NOT pie filling) is commonly used for this. Mix in 1 teaspoon of pumpkin per 10lbs body weight once or twice daily.

Thanks for reaching out about Pika. Shaking could be several things, starting with shivering from hypothermia, therefore providing a heat lamp might help. But mammals shiver/shake due to metabolic disorders, seizures and other causes. These need to be investigated through a visit with your veterinarian. Good luck.

What a cute puppy! Don't worry too much, dogs show affection in different ways. It could simply be a case that the pup sees you all the time but gets really excited because she doesn't see your girlfriend as often. Also dogs are very hierarchical so the pup may see you as the alpha, more of a boss figure. Whereas your girlfriend could be viewed more as a friend.

If you would like to bring Pika to you, that is certainly ok! I moved from American to New Zealand, and shipped two dogs and two cats with me. They were able to make the move without problems. If you feel that she is missing you a lot and want her with you, certainly do it. I would speak with a pet transporter company about shipping her, as they can help with you any tests required to bring her into the UK.

No, this is not safe to give to Pippi. Dogs should never be given cooked bones as they easily splinter in the GI tract, leading to perforation and obstruction. Ham isn't healthy for dogs either. Please do not give this to her.
